CARDS AND MESSAGES FOR CHANCE...
Chance Rodgers P.O. Box 25 Midland, OR 97634

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/chancerodgers

I have been ask to repost the address for my grandson, Chance, and also his CaringBridge site address... so here it is. He is in Portland for a couple of chemo treatments. We are nearing the end of these treatments. I think he will be finished by the end of August.

The chemo has really taken its toll on Chance. He is tired, has lost lots and lots of weight and his coloring is pure white. He showed me his toenails and fingernails. They are chalking white.. weird looking.

Chance now gets around with a leg brace, but he can't bend his knee. He does some physical therapy, but has to be careful because the bone graph is so near the knee. He doesn't want to damage the growth plate which is located just above the knee.

He has managed to spend time at the ocean and last weekend, Chance and his Dad came by here on their way up to a favorite fishing spot. The next day, his Dad and sister came by on their way fishing. I guess that they have caught the fishing bug, but I'm not sure about how many fish they are catching. lol

Chance continues to enjoy getting cards and letters. Everyone that writes really does encourage him. He can't get over how many people have heard about him and have written.

Also, he is often mentioned on the trucker channel on XM Radio. He even did a phone interview on the radio. I'm amazed at how well he has handled interviews.

The only part of the summer that has been a disappointment for him is that he hasn't gotten to go with Papa JR in the truck. He always trucks with JR, but his schedules just didn't allow for it this summer.

Thank you all again for caring sooooo much for Chance.

Love - AnnieL

THanks honeybugg. Chance really is very special. He had a very rough week with this last chemo and he has to have another treatment again this next week. We all will be glad when this ordeal is finished and he has survived the Big C.

Thanks for the request. After I posted this blog, I found out that Chance is having a very tough day today with the chemo treatment. He is very very sick. They vary what they put in his chemo and sometimes it makes him more nauseated than other times. He really does need everyone's prayers this go around.

Glad you are doing better Annie.

I'm getting better, but it is a slow process. I have a knot at the top of my surgery scar that remains swollen. I see the surgeon tomorrow and I will question him about it. Thanks for asking Texas. And.... how are you doing????

Love & hugs - Annie

I am so glad to hear an update on him. It sounds like it is a challenge, but the little guy is holding up so bad!

When Chance 1st started this journey, we were all very frightened. But, with each day, we have more confidence that all is going to turn out for the best. Looking back, we have only had one really bad scare. That was just after Christmas when he had to be mediflighted to Portland because he had gotten so bad at our local hospital. But, I have experienced our local hospital and so it was not a surprise. They have recently remodeled the hospital and added rooms, but... the care has gone downhill. I hope to never end up there again and hopefully, Chance won't either.

Thanks for stopping by AJ.

Thanx for the site, Annie...I'm heading there right now.

Chance's mom does a great job keeping up the site. And... she is always changing the photo album with new pictures. To have access to this site has made life easier for her so she doesn't get so many phone calls from friends and relatives checking on Chance. It has also lifted Chance's spirits to read the e-mail entries.

It seems that so many people are suffering from cancer these days. It is rather frightening. I just had a friend who was 51 years of age that died from pancreatic cancer. Now I have another friend who was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She is only 55 or 56 years of age.

Doernbecker's Children's Hospital in Portland have been miracle workers. Chance has made other friends there who are suffering from cancer. Sadly, a couple of them have passed away. We are blessed because Chance will probably come through all of this ordeal and live a normal life.

Trust me, my prayers have never stopped. I signed up with CaringBridge when you first mentioned it on Blogster and subscribed to Chance's site. I keep posted on his progress with his sweet Mom's journal entries. Every now and then I add my greeting to his guestbook, with the reminder that I'm Anniel's blogging buddy. I send Chance my caring good wishes everyday.

I have often read your comments on Chance's site. Thank you for taking the time to comment and to show love to Chance. I haven't been commenting as much lately because I have seen more of Chance when he is home. He sure looks different these days. Before the cancer, I couldn't keep up with how fast he was growing. Now, it seems he is shrinking. He is so thin and when he is leaning on his crutches, he looks like he has gotten shorter. I know the latter isn't true, but he does have the illusion of shrinking. They say it was those fast growth spurts that allowed the cancer to get started. Some cells just went crazy with growth and caused the osteosarcoma. We are just glad that it was detected early.

Thanks again Marta for caring. Annie :o)
