Ancestral Connections of the Ayes, Copyright 2008

Hi:

Up early this morning and decided to make good use of my coffee relax time.

I decided to browse PARES, Ministerio de Cultura, Espana.

This time I pushed the dates back a little further, 1290 to 1490.

The numbers at the top of the header are the catalogue and reference numbers. Fuentes or Source is PARES, Ministerio de Culture, Espana.
The date of the document is 02/04/1318
The town is Asieso.
Its a simple document according to the archiver.

This is what it says:

"Toda Perez, from San Vicente, an Abess of the Monastary, gives Martin de Ayes and his wife, Sancha Guazer, Bernardo Guazer, and his wife, Tomasa, a palace with its land, serfs,
farms, live stock, (the word heredamientos covers a lot of things), the palace is situated in Asieso. They have to pay a yearly sum of 5 potos and a half, and a pound of olive oil."

Any one have a castle they want to give away? I can pay the same amount on a yearly basis...(Joke).

Since I couldn't find any data on PARES, Ministry of Culture Spain I began to put the document "out there".

I got an interesting response from my yDNA group administrator, Betty Hubbard who is a genealogist too.

"Toda Perez is Gutierre Clan-PEREZ DE TRABA, sister of Trastamara Count Fernando Perez de Traba, their father Count of Trastamara Pedro Froilaz.   Go to History file name GUTIERRE CLAN pg 1 -H. Gutierrez- browse -Count of Trastamara Pedro Froilaz.   I was excited to find the surname AYES in your search of AYES surname connecting to PEREZ DE TRABA!   This AYES has to be related to PEREZ DE TRABA because only close kins they favor give lands to each other during these times.   I also remembered my grandfather giving lands to his kins before I was born but during his time lands were cheap; lands had gone up in value in the Phil these days.   I was surprised to hear last month that the house of my grandfather was sold to someone, when I asked who sold it, it was sold by my distant aunt."

Today I browsed the Internet to see what I could dig up on the town of Asieso. I am uploading some photos here. I hope they come out good.

Asieso is located in Jaca, Spain. Jaca in turn is located in the Ebro River depression close to the River Aragon within the Aragon Valley in Huesca North Eastern Spain.

Towns close to Asieso:

Navarra, Zaragoza, Huesca, Pamplona, Ayesa, Ayerbe and it sits upon the border of France.

Jaca became the first capital of Aragon.

Interesting things to know.

I am very into the root meanings of surnames. That interest also extends itself into meanings of place names as well.

Aragon, D'Aragon = Dragon.

Asieso also once belonged to the later dated Marques de Urries.

But the Ayes were there first!

Enjoy!
