This season of "South Park" has captured the avarice and stupidity of American popular culture better than ever, and tonight's finale (10 p.m. EDT on Comedy Central) should be no exception. As long as it involves Eric Cartman, Tom Cruise, Scientology, a gaggle of angry Canadians and the return of dog (and child) whisperer Cesar Millan, we're happy.

Who is Eric Cartman? I thought you meant Eric Carmen, the singer from the 70's.

Eric Theodore Cartman, commonly referred to by his family name, Cartman, is one of the four main characters in the animated series South Park.
Cartman acts in many disguises. Like Director Alfred Hitchcock, he is difficult to spot.
Theodore once appeared as a fat kid eating ice cream. He stole the idea from me.
