I have always dreamed of fencing in the Olympics; maybe its all the drama behind it all. Fencing has become a part of my life; it used to be Tae Kwon Do up until two years ago. I added fenicng to my plate and I can't get enough of it. I am happy that Fencing is growing in the Central and South New Jersey. It has not reached its full potential here. In Northern NJ or North of Newark, Fencing is a part of the HS teams.
When I approached my SECA last year to consider making Fencing a team sport, she laughed at me. She thought that Fencing is too dangerous. I was stunned and could believe what she said.
Fencing is not dangerous; it is a sport of the Olympic games.
When anyone thinks of fencing, they immediately recall the last Olympics where the USA finally had mega success in Saber.
Epee is growing and is getting stronger in the USA. Epee is my weapon; I think of Zorro and the three musketeers when I think of Epee.
This year I fenced at the NJSIAA in Hackettstown and came out in third place. It was a blast to fence all the independent fencers in NJ who do not fence for HS teams. My school's coach is now interested in starting a fencing club or team! I am so excited that I was the impetus for this. He sees how dedicated and motivated fencers can be. I hope that this will come to pass prior to my Senior year. See you all in Reno for the NAC.
