Many of you know my childhood friend, Lynell. She and I meet in the 7th grade and have been like sisters since. We have been thru death, divorce, more divorce, you name it, we've been there together thru it all. Here's a photo of Lynell and I, age 14. A bit fuzzy, but time has done the same to our minds so its ok
My dear friend has horrible arthritis in the joints of her fingers. As many of you know she does stain glass work and embroideries. She drives up from New Orleans about once every month or so and we find some sort of devil-ment to get into. On the last trip I talked her into helping me make a quilt.
" OH, I could never learn to do this" says she. I had gotten a new Bernina sewing machine last year that sews like a dream. The BMW of sewing machines. While we were at the table, cutting out our pieces Lynell said, " Do uou still have that old singer sewing machine in the attic, the one we bought so we could sew the Santa a new suit?" We sent the husband upstairs and down he comes with another sewing machine that was used only once to sew the fat man his red suit.
So, here I sit, working on a vegetable quilt and I get an email from Lynell with photos, showing me her intricate " fan" pattern she has made out of white and pink roses and it blows me away.... WHAT a girl!!
She always sells herself so short. What a cool friend I have!!!!
