Marmalade

When we lost our lovely Maine Coon cat, we were crushed. My bride went down to the pound to find a replacement. She was shown a section of available cats. They were all pretty. Elaine then asked if they had a kitten. Yes, the lady said, we just moved her to section 4 (death row). "May I see her, E asked?"

The lady took her to section 4. There was a marmalade colored kitten there. From her looks, you might determine she wouldn't be the top choice of visitors. My soft-hearted bride chose her, and after processing, picked her up and brought her home. Meet "Marmalade."

Sorry to hear about the loss of your other cat. Maine Coon's are big and so friendly (at least the one's that I've known) -- your new cat is beautiful and the name fits her perfectly. You should refer to her as "lady marmalade".

She's lucky to have you!

As I recall, calico refers to cats that have three colors. They are always female. Marmalade qualifies.

It annoys me that they kill animals. They should spend the money on spaying or whatever. Prevention is the better part of valor.

I had a cat (female) with a stub tail that we named Marmalade because of her color mix. It was in the early to mid 1970's when I lived in the Cleveland-Akron area. She would always get in bed with me and sleep with her head in my armpit. She stayed with my first wife after the divorce but lived to a ripe old 19 years!
