  Spring: in Others' Words, in My Pictures

Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. ~Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters of Rainer Maria Rilke

It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

The naked earth is warm with Spring,
And with green grass and bursting trees
Leans to the sun's kiss glorying,
And quivers in the sunny breeze.
~Julian Grenfe ll

April hath put a spirit of youth in everything. ~William Shakespeare

Yesterday the twig was brown and bare;
To-day the glint of green is there;
Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;
I know no thing so wondrous fair,
No miracle so strangely rare.
I wonder what will next be there!
~L.H. Bailey

Now every field is clothed with grass, and every tree with leaves; now the woods put forth their blossoms, and the year assumes its gay attire. ~Virgil

I had better ask somebody. Either I need a step-by-step user's manual or there's a problem I can't figure out.

I did subscribe to all my friends...and it says "subscribed" on all of their pages when I visit, but I am not being notified. What else do I have to do, or do I really have a problem here?

And I am so thankful it is! (Now I'm just trying to figure out why I was never told I had comments on this post! Darn it!)

Beautiful words and pictures celebrating the Earth's wonders. I think my favorite image is the first--shrieking into the heart of the night-

I loved those quotes and I knew I just had to use them in a post. I'm glad it all came together and worked out. I'm also very happy that you enjoyed the post.

I don't think we're that much ahead of you. I figure you should be starting to see more and more blossoms, leaves, and flowers any day now.

Are these pics of your garden? It's lovely. My rhododendron's yellow flowers turned brown due to the cold snap we just had.

No, the pictures were taken while I was taking a walk through my end of town. Unfortunately, there aren't any flowers in my yard...just a small green lawn. There's two huge trees on the property, but tucked way back as if not even there. Then one rather young tree in front, it's one in a line of trees running the length of the street.
