  Popularity

How do people become popular? I'm going back in time to when we were all in school. Cliques form way back to kindergarten. The more aggressive kids get together and push the weaker ones around. Then when you get to high school and those same kids are juniors and seniors the cliques become more elaborate. You have the jocks who push around the weaker ones. You have the prom queens who want to be seen with the jocks but in private want to bang the rebellious ones (like me.) If you saw the movie Dazed and Confused I was more like the character, Pink. He hung with the stoners and played football. He wasn't what you called a jock but was on good terms. I was a clique of my own. Now being all grown up(chronologically speaking)there are still cliques. They just have different names. You have the white collar snobs. The down-to-earth white collars. The down home blue collar workers. Then you have the white trash. I've mentioned them before. They rarely(or never)bathe. They don't hold down jobs(most are on welfare.) They have what PD call number 10 couples(translation: an extremely tall skinny dude with an extremely short fat wife. When they stand together, they look like a number 10.) Even greasy sort of has cliques. There are members that are featured on the most popular blogs. I'm not saying I want to be featured, I'm only saying it happens. Kudos to those on that because you have that sumtin' sumtin' that gets people to read your blogs. I do wish that cliques weren't so cruel. Sadly kids can be cruel. Most of the popular ones have parents that tell them they are better than everyone else. Everyone is suppose to be equal.

The only cliques I ever was in was the class nerds..LOL. And yes, I see the same thing happening here too. Don't feel bad, you won't see me on the featured either. I p*ss in too many peoples cornflakes to be featured anything...

People hang with others who make them feel good about themselves for any number of reasons.

There always were and there always will be cliques. I think that if you want to be better than that, keep doing what you are doing and be your own person. When people try to fit into a mold based on their level of income or their employment they throw themselves back into a juvinile state. I thought the point of growing up was to transend this, but sadly I have been mistaken.

~the 10 couple thing is kinda funny though

I respect that fact that you march to your own drumbeat More people should be comfortable with themselves enuff to not give a darn what other people think You make some good observations in this post definitely. Good for you!

Thank PD for that one. She's the one that told me that when we were first dating.

Being ignored by people who don't know you is better than being hated by persons who do.
