The Age of American Unreason by Susan Jacoby

This is a must read for us all. I am appalled by the sheer ignorance of young adults who do not know about the three branches of Government, How many Senators we have, what the purpose of the Supreme Court is and other basic knowledge. She blames the we are all"just folks" mentality in politics, the media and the lack of reading for information and pleasure for a dumbed down America. It is great food for thought. I looked at her picture and thought she was about 3o. Actually, she is in her mid sixties. She was a young woman during the turmoil of the sixties. She has a lot to say and it is worth listening to and she is witty and fun. This book was available at my small town library.

You would like it, I am sure of that. I am guilty though, I could only name three Supreme Court Justices.

The media slants news, the government feeds the media lies so we don't know what to believe unless we have a prior foundation for reaszoning, which I am sure you have.
