  Perfection

We all know that perfection can never be attained. Nothing is perfect in nature and there are no perfect people. I have been mulling this over in the labryinthine corners of my mind because of the perfectionists in my family. They put such pressure on themselves. I am reminded of a few words from one of my favorites:

"Ring the bells that still can ring.
Forget your perfect offering.
There's a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in"
Leonard Cohen

Nuff said.

I wrote a post "Needing Perfection" on Greasy a while back.
I didn't want to do it on Blogster where my friends sometimes
visit because it was about them. Those who criticize
your errors are usually oblivious to their own.

I will have to go find it and read it again.

Some perfectionists seem to expect perfection from others, but not from themselves, or at least that's the way it seems to those of us who think we are easygoing. I do like my pillowcases and towels folded a certain way, but don't refold them after other people try to be helpful.

Well, you know I am a sloppy lot. I would like ironed sheets and towels but not enough to do them myself. I am guilty of reloading the dishwasher but only to get the maximum number of dishes in.

I might "fix" things after someone else has helped me, but I
don't dump on them for it.

sadly, I waste every day sitting at work rotting away...

I am so sorry you still have to work. We have got to find you an animal based career, so you could do what you love.

The most contemptible and obnoxious people are the ones who think they're perfect.

Too true. I give them a wide berth.

How beautiful those words!

Leonard Cohen is a poet, philosopher and musician. A real Renaisance man.
Before he got as old as he is now, I always thought he was the sexiest man that I had ever seen. Alas, time catches up with us all.

Kristy, how wonderful it must be to be as young as you are. Don't waste a precious drop of it...enjoy youth to the full.
