Girl Sent Home with Wrong Family

** This is a true story it happened here in TN**

School Sends Child Home with Wrong Family

When Donald Brown showed up at Hull Jackson Montessori School to pick up his five year old daughter on Wednesday, he got news no parent ever wants to hear.  Donald says "when I got there the woman told me my child was gone."

Ralph Thompson with Metro Schools says "there was a person from out of town who was not familiar with the person they were here to pick up."

It was a mix-up and the school sent Donald's daughter Marquita home with the family member of another student.

Gwendolyn Brown, Marquita's grandmother, says "she was telling them that's not my daddy.  And they wouldn't listen to her."

When someone comes to pick up a child at Jackson Hull they are responsible for signing out the child and showing identification; but that didn't happen on Wednday.

Ralph Thompson says "the school's dismissal procedure is in order, it's ok, I've reviewed that. "

He says school officials will look into training employees to carry out that dismissal procedure.

When the person who picked up Marquita got home, the family realized the mistake and brought her back safely to Jackson Hull.  Now Marquita's family wants the school to make sure this type of mistake never happens again.

Wow. I cannot believe this! I never fail to be amazed. What *really* hits home with me is that we have been preaching Stranger Danger to Grace. One of our big things is that if someone she doesn't know ever tries to take her away to yell, "This is not my daddy! This is not my mommy! I don't know these people!" Knowing that no one listened to this little girl tell them that has physically made me sick to my stomach.
Praise The Lord that she wasn't hurt...or worse.

Yeah I know, her parents taught her to say that..but it scares the #### outta me that no one listened to this little girl. I was so angry when I heard this one the news, and the Principle tried to make excuses. That really ticked me off. I'm just glad she was ok.

This should never happen! Thank goodness it turned out okay. When the girl is saying it was not her daddy, why wasn't anyone listening?

What a scary experience! No family should have to go through that! That school needs some regular inservices on procedures if this happened! It defies common sense!

I agree, apparently someone didn't do their job very well at all.

Her poor family must have gone through hell when not seeing the girl at school.

They interviewed the little girls dad and he was so upset. I don't blame him I would have freaked out for sure. That poor little girl, what upset me is that she kept telling folks that..that wasn't her dad, and they still made her go with the other man....What does that do to her little self esteem or her little mind...that makes me mad..

No lie--what a terrible experience for the family!

Oh, for the love of Moses!I will remember this every time I hear someone at our elementary school make a fuss about the procedure for signing children out...

Well what pissed me off, is there are steps in place at this school...and this little girl knew she wasn't suppose to go with this man...she told the people that this wasn't her dad...and they didn't listen. Poor kid...I know she must have been scared to death. Whoever made her go with this guy needs their ass kicked.

that would rattle my nerve.Your not my daddy do you hear me.
A five years girl is intelligent enough to know who's my daddy.
This has to be very stupid there.

What really ticked me off was listening to the Principal trying to make excuses...If I was that little girls dad I would have kicked some butt..
