In the 1990's we used this in record numbers......but since Y2K the usuage of this item is down by 6%.....can you figure out what the item is???

That was my original thought but then thought nah.
copies? Staplers? Annoying people? phones? speakers? printers? pens? pencils? sissors? calculators? business cards? a pot? staple removers? wite out? message pads? paper? garbage cans?

That covers what I see near my desk at the moment. Aside from the keyboard and mouse.
