  An Awakening

That is how I have been feeling, like I have awakened. This class is good for me on so many levels. I am becoming more outgoing, talking to people, laughing. It is amazing. And I am getting into new hobbies, like that quilting.

Last nights class was alot of fun. The instructor asked if I practised over the weekend. I said no sir, I was busy recuperating. And I let it slip that the pushups were the cause of my pain. so of course now we have to do pushups every class. As we practiced our kicks the instructor walked in front of me with a target to kick. He corrected me quite a few times, my arms weren't in the right position. And he explained why they had to be in a certain position. Then he had Mr. John help me off to the side with some tactics, blocking mostly. There was another new kid so he was with us too. Mr. John got out this big bat at one point, its a big square soft bat. I said, oh great now you are going to beat us for not blocking right. lol I was having a hard time with the coordination thing and I know that will come in time.

And I am not sore at all today! Amazing! When we left class I was feeling so good about myself. For no longer sitting on the sidelines letting life pass me by. For getting up and doing something about this weight gain. For not being too hard on myself about everything.

Tonight we have a meeting before class. They want to work on promoting the school in the community and I signed up for the group. Amazing! I feel like my life is just beginning. I don't feel awkward or alone in class. I don't feel outside the group. I feel like finally I am a part of the human race and I am catching up to everyone.

Any Martial Artist will tell you, they don't fear death - they fear 'not' living life! There's one thing I learned about Martial Arts, it doesn't take long before you realise that for all these years you don't know nothing about yourself until you take part and discover the true meaning of who you are.

That there brought a tear to my eye. You DESERVE to feel empowered like this. Thrive on it. Live it. Love it. Every day.
