  Been in a Blog Rut

I have been in a bit of rut when it comes to blogging and commenting. I am really not sure why. could just be the summer time and not much blogging is going on anyway.

At Kota's Tae Kwan Do class they had a sign up sheet. They are forming a group to get the company more involved in the community. So I signed up for it. We have our first meeting next week. Every day we go to class Kota asks if I have signed up yet to be a student. lol I keep telling him I have to wait for the owner's wife to be there, she does all the business transactions. And yesterday she was busy with other people.

I contacted another homeschool Mom near here. She mentors alot of families, especially getting started. We are going to meet up one day so she can help me with some things. Seems lately I have been meeting alot of people who either homeschool their kids, or they were kids who were homeschooled.

I have been having weird and very vivid dreams the last couple nights. One night I dreamt I was at a party at my daughter's boyfriends house. And lynnie, you were there with me! then last night I dreamt about my mom and vin diesel was some kind of human cyborg sent to protect her. LOL I think I watch too many sci fi movies!

I need to go to the library today, out of books to read. Its just hard going with kota cuz he picks out his books in 5 minutes and then hovers around me saying, are you done yet?? I might set him up at the computer in the kids room, they have fun games on there for the kids. That should keep him busy!

Well thats the news for now folks.

Sounds like you are spending your summer just as you should Mary. Blogging can wait and will always be here ya know. I'm so happy that you are considering joining the class. I think it will be great for you.

I had to laugh about Kota hanging around you at the library asking "are you done yet?" My kids used to do that too. It takes twice as long to pick out books cuz they're distracting you.

Have a great night!

I think its going to be alot of fun, I signed up tonight and got my uniform. I need workout buddies to stick to something. If I had to do it on my own I would make excuses why I couldn't do it.

whatever you do on this,do some research on home schooling.
I do not liked it for it does not have any challenges.
You need to be more social and just worked it out.
Good luck and yes we all get in a rut,but we work it out.

That's not true Fredo. We homeschooled our son 3 1/2 years through most of elementary and the first year of middle school. When he went back into the classroom his 7th grade year he went into *all* honor classes. If you have a great curriculum and are dedicated to it YOU can do it!! Also we belonged to a homeschool group and these kids including mine were involved in Destination Imagination. They competed against other private and public school kids and won regionals first place and went onto STATE!! I don't know what you are picturing home school to be but, it is NOT what you think. Just telling you this from someone who knows and has been there and done that.

Fredo, I used to feel the same way about homeschooling as you do. But it has really changed alot and parents are finding it is actually better for the children academically. They are able to start college sometimes a year before their peers. And they have so many groups available that the kids do get that social interaction. believe me, I am doing alot of research and it all seems very positive. But thank you for caring!

Maybe I missed something. Are you thinking of homeschooling Kota?
comment by marta on July 2, 2008 8:08 AM ()
yes, we had a very rough school year. his grades are very good but we had lots of behavior problems. we think he was very bored and would get antsy waiting for the other kids to catch up to him. and the school administrators were just ridiculous. I put kota in counseling and the counselor saw him about 4 times and said we didn't really need to come back. I talked to his teacher and he said he thinks kota will really respond well to homeschooling, working at his own pace. I found a group that is around here so he can get interaction with other kids and they also do field trips. now I just need to pick a curriculum.

I love to go to the library too but I agree it's better ALONE. I hate it when I have to be rushed. What are you reading?
comment by meranda on July 2, 2008 7:43 AM ()
right now I am hooked on any books dealing with forensic anthropology. there was this one series by Jefferson Bass, totally excellant. I love mysteries and things like that. and I love to just browse!

Reading! I told R I want to read a lot this weekend. I have a zillion books and haven't started any! I hate that! I love reading so I don't know why I am not...
Have a great day! Are you guys doing anything for the 4th?
comment by kristilyn3 on July 2, 2008 6:49 AM ()
well we don't go to fireworks, the noise really bothers kota. but we have a big family bbq on saturday at my sister's house. that should be alot of fun! plus I should get some good sun time in!
reply by elkhound on July 2, 2008 6:58 AM ()
Smart idea -- set him up with that computer, but keep an eye on him as I know you will. I don't trust too many people in this day and age. Smooches!
comment by teacherwoman on July 2, 2008 6:48 AM ()
they usually have someone in the kid's room. but I do keep one eye on him. but with his karate skills he might take someone out if they attack him!
