  Warning for My Blog :)

Thought I would throw in this warning here. Where my blog used to be about kota, cleaning and the animals, it is now liable to be mostly about my tae kwan do class. But it is because I am so excited about it and just loving it! Tonight I had to do my form in front of the class, all of us did. And the high belts had to watch us all and for each mistake we made we would have to do 15 pushups. Yes, the dreaded pushups. They went in order from highest belt to lowest. And they also grouped it by belt. So all the green belts went together, etc. Everyone had to do pushups, even Kota. So when it came time for me Master Reynolds just winked at me and told me I could do it. Well there is another white belt who is really struggling with his form. So Master Reynolds was helping him as the rest of us went at our own pace. When we finished we had to stay in our last stance until all the students in our level were done. I swear I had to stand there with one fist up for about 10 minutes. I was getting such a cramp. Master Reynolds asked his high belts how we did. The first kid had to 30 pushups. The one struggling didn't have to do any because this was only his second class. Another kid had to do 15 pushups. when it came to me I was cringing. I had to do........NONE!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO! This was kind of like testing, to see how well we know our forms.

After class the one high belt who helps all the beginners gave me some tips on what I could do better, namely be more aggressive with my punches.

Tomorrow is bring a friend day so guess who I am taking?? HUBBY! LOL Even Master Reynolds said that he had to do it! hehehehe, I can't wait to see how he does in our warmups! It should be alot of fun.

We had a storm hit and it was really pouring as we left the dojang. I thought if I ran I wouldn't get as wet, but I don't think it really mattered. lol

Tomorrow I will practice my form in the back yard. Under kota's direction.

my Dear you are not old enough to have a mid-life crisis. You are still just a sweet young thing.

lol the ten minute 'Yamin' (come out) wait - damn that can burn. It's good to get your breath back but thats all I suppose I focuss on a spot across the room - it helps a bit.

when I was in that position I was facing the high belts. they would encourage me by smiling or giving me a thumbs up. it was so hard to stand in the that position! lynnie, I am so loving this class! I wish we could take class together!

I really enjoyed it to. I loved the forms, but I'm not into the sparring, unfortunately and I'd have never gotten more belts without it. I could have just done forms all day long. To me, it was like dancing.

I know what you mean, doing the forms is alot of fun, the precision you have to attain. although I am kind of looking forward to sparring! my kicks are pretty good!

AJ, this is just huge for me! To get in front of people and work out and show what I know! for someone who is normally very anxious in group situations, I feel so at home with these people. hubby has already seen a huge difference in my attitude.

That's so exciting that you found an activity to get your out there and start having fun, while building confidence and meeting new people! Very, very cool. The other day J suggested that I should get involved in a martial art as well... but I really don't know the first thing about what kind would be a good fit for me.

mel, I highly recommend it! I have so much fun with it. I think the big thing is the school. Everyone is so encouraging and helpful. No one puts you down if you make a mistake and they really point out the positive. Maybe check out different places and sit in on a class or two to see how they do things.

I really hate pushups. and since the instructors know that, they make us do them every class! its really fun taking this class with my son, even though he is a higher belt than me.
