I'll Give My Tax Rebate to Charity.

*

While sitting here with my laptop and having a nice
gin and tonic with my boys.Mike and Buffy.
Mike just came in from getting his haircut.
We normally have a drink or so and some cheese and crackers.
Buffy has his cookies and along whatever we give him.
He is doing so much better and recovered very nicely.
We normally read the paper, while doing so as I always
check out the letter to the editor.
I find this one very interesting and wanted to share it
with you and your comment.
Hope that this find it interesting .
This is from Karl T.Bergeron who lives in Northwood.NH
This is about a couple of miles from where we lived.

Karl T.Bergeron,Northwood,New Hampshire.

Military spending has put us in debt to China. Dick Cheney's oil cronies have pushed the price of gas and home heating fuels to never-before heights. Food prices are soaring, and the cost of living is reaching new levels while wages remain stagnate. At the same time, people are losing their homes.

With much of our national spending going to support war on two major fronts, we are unable to improve our highways, bridges, etc. "No Child Left Behind" is leaving many behind. Funding for public education is drying up, in part because the wealthy are paying less in taxes. We're teaching our children how to take tests, not how to think critically.

Now President Bush is trying to use money we no longer have to placate the American people. By sending them a "tax rebate" he hopes to re-stimulate the economy, i.e. put more money in the hands of corporate conglomerates like Wal-Mart.

I am not going to support the rich and buy their products just because my president has asked me to. Instead, though I can hardly afford it, I am going to give my "dividend" to my favorite nonprofit organization so that it may continue to help those in need. I encourage others who can do the same. Agencies that are trying to overcome the impact of the Bush years are hurting for funds. Please help them so that they may help you when the need arises.

I commend Mr Bergeron for his thinking, but I think most people in our society are either unwilling or unable to follow his lead. As or my check..it will be spent on tuition for my daughters schooling and a family get away in August

That's wonderful. If it were any other time of the year I would do that. I have to bank it to keep back for summer expenses when I'm not making much money in part of July and August. Got to stayi covered in that respect.

I've already spent my stimulus--bought the new computer tower--now if only I would get the check!!

Unfortunately, we have to drive many miles out here and it cost me $68 to fill my tank last week. Yet that idiot in the White House wants us to believe that drilling for more domestic oil and building more domestic refineries is the answer. Sure it's the answer...for his cronies in the oil business.

The gentleman has a point. More and more people may be homeless as the dollar shrinks and prices inflate beyond their capability to survive.

I drive 88 miles round trip a day..and hubby more than that to work. We fill up both cars twice a week $200 + a week. It's hard.

Sorry to hear that.I have a Toyato Pirus and every two wks
I filled it at a cost under thirty.Depending how far I go.
Right now as the weather get warmer. The mileage increased.
This is a fun car to drive. The gas prices is not going to come
down at all maybe a penny here and there.
so we to learn to accept the prices on gas,no matter how
much that we b tch.

I drive a little honda civic and I paid $45 for gas and my tank was 1/4 full... SERIOUSLY????
