As most of you know, I celebrated Mother's Day with my son yesterday. I celebrated it with my daughter, today. My daughter, R, and I, went to Savers and then had lunch together at Taco Bell. It was a nice time. We also watched a movie together. My son, J, should be home in a couple of hours and then I think tomorrow the three of us may go do something together...maybe play pool or something. I got a very unexpected phone call today. My ex called me to wish me a happy Mother's Day. Before I answered the call, I checked the number and knew it was him. However, I wasn't prepared for what he said and halfway through the call, I had to look at my phone to make sure it was really him. He called to wish me a happy Mother's Day and said that our children are blessed to have me as a mother and that I am doing a great job as a mom. That completely threw me for a loop, but it was sincere on his part and I thanked him a couple of times. The surprising part? This is the first time in 17 years that he has done something like this. I knew that he was changing and that our conversations were going very nicely lately, but just wasn't prepared for his surprise call. In all honesty, it made my day that much more special. He just kept saying I was doing a great job as a mother and that he 'wanted to be the first to say so.'
Even his relationship with our son has been better lately. For the first time in years, our son, J, has been wanting to see his dad more. So, it's great! Anyway, it's been a good day so far. Now, I'm waiting for J to come back from his girlfriends house, then the three of us will watch a movie. I hope everyone else had a wonderful Mother's Day.
