Finally, a Mother's Day to Myself

Usually Mother's Day for me is DH and the kids making a nice breakfast, and getting whatever presents and crafts they have for me.

Then, we head out to MIL's cabin, where they (DH, SIL, BIL), make supper for everyone (including DH's aunt, and Grandma). They then shower the other 2 mothers (MIL and GIL) with gifts, while I sit there, feeling like chopped liver. I might get a plain envelope shoved at me with a $10 bill in it. Blah. I've taken to removing myself from the room because I feel so left out. After all, I'm the only mother there that actually takes care of young kids on a daily basis. That deserves nothing.

This year will be different. MIL and SIL have gone on an Alaskan cruise together. (SIL hanging out with old people and acting like she's a senior at 43 years old is a whole other article).

Sunday will be about ME for the first time in 6 YEARS!

Saturday night we have DH's work party. I got my outfit from the thrift store ($3 black lace-overlay dress, $1.50 Dockers sandals, $5 green silk peacock print scarf to use as a shawl)! The kids are going to my parent's house for a sleepover! YAHOO!! Usually my mom comes here to babysit, then just spends the night.

On Sunday morning, we will pickup the kids, and then my kids and DH are going to take me out for lunch. I have no idea where. But I suspect Red Lobster.

And the other thing is that I NEVER see my mom on mother's day. This time I will.

I am very selfishly looking forward to this.

Yay! I hope it went as well as planned, Jen. I'm smiling for you.

You have every right to be "selfishly" looking forward to this. Although I think that it's not selfish at all... it's about time!! Have a great day!
