Shopping > I Love My Thrift Store

  I Love My Thrift Store

I spent $20 there today. I seriously *LOVE* this store. I go once a week, almost without fail. Today my big find cost me $2.50. I've been looking for Threads magazines at every used book store, thrift store and garage sale I go to. Today I found 10 Threads magazines, at 25c each! WHOOOHOO! (They have tons of great sewing information in them).

I also got a button-up shirt for me, a bathing suit for me (looks like new, fits, and flatters - now that's darned rare!), and a few trinkets for Leah who was with me. The shirt alone would have cost more than $20 new.

If you are thinking I'm cheap for shopping a thrift stores, go right ahead. I think I'm smart. I save a HUGE amount of money, it's entertainment just going to the store, and I'm helping the charity that runs the store both by buying, and donating stuff to them. And, it's recycling too.

I am a thrift store junkie! I love finding some treasures that others over looked. I have been on a book kick and instead of spending 20.00 or more for a book at Borders I have been getting some great ones for a couple of bucks a piece.

First of all, I'm so jealous of your thrift store. We just have the Sally Anne and Value Village. I started thrift shopping years and years ago once I had to buy my own school clothes and realized that I could have dozens of pairs of jeans for the price of one in a regular retail outlet...and I could brand names if I wanted to, too!I'm still a brand w.h.o.r.e. when I'm thrifting.Have you ever read the book "Thrift Score"?

Value Village is pretty good though. Since they have tons of clothes, it's easier to find something specific. And I noticed their kid's computer games are 99c, while at the MCC store I go to, they are $2.

I haven't heard of "Thrift Score", but I've just requested it through the local library, so I'll probably have it in a week or so (I love my library!). Thanks for the new reading material!

No, I think you are a very smart shopper! I enjoy finding steals, also!

thrift stores are great! I love shopping at them, I always find at least one treasure there. and I buy most of kota's play clothes at thrift stores. kids clothes are so expensive. so we are just very smart!

I buy their school clothes there too - or sometimes the kid's consignment store if I'm feeling rich.
