  My Shopping Extravaganza

I got the cheque my mom has been telling me she was giving me. She's been saying that for about 6 months now, and I finally got it. For my RRSP only. (Yeah, right).

First thing I did was hit the liquor store and got some vodka and whiskey. A mommy has to self-medicate after the kids go to bed.

A few days later I hit my favorite thrift store and found a reel mower (the kind with no motor). Funny, I saw they were on sale in a flier, and was thinking about buying one. And I find two at my thrift store! I bought the newer one. DH has already been using it!

A few days after that, I was bored and didn't want to stay home, so dragged Leah to Princess Auto for more electric fence tape (with the foal coming soon, I need to add another strand low down), and Greenhawk Saddlery. Now I remember why I don't go there... Everything I bought was on sale, but I spent over $100. Got a pink kid sized brush that Leah desperately wanted for brushing the pony. Got dewormer. Got the black breast collar that I've been looking forever for. (And it doesn't fit! ARRGGH! I think if I add a couple of snaps that it will fit.) (And it's the horse that wears the breast collar, not me! LOL!). Got a Mountain Horse riding jacket. Oh, how I have coveted Mountain Horse boots and jackets! Not sure if I'll use it for riding. I wouldn't want to get it dirty. (how silly!). It's baby blue, and is waterproof, windproof, breathable and mesh lined, not insulated. It's been on a long walk and a bike ride already.

Today is a nearby town's parade of garage sales... That's where I spent most of the day. The kids are Pokemon crazy, and I found them 6 Pokemon videos! Paid anywhere from 25c to $3 each. And got Leah a bunch of clothes for 10c each. And got 2 more jackets for me, a black wool dressy coat and a blanket lined jean jacket for yard work and horse riding ($1 each!), and a purse with a snaffle bit on it ($1), little toys for the kids (free), 3 big metal washtubs to be used for planters ($1 each), 3 photo albums, etc.

I also went by a local tack store that was having a BBQ, sale and a vet from the clinic I use selling vaccines. It's fun to corner a horse vet so that I can ask them a million questions, then buy West Nile vaccines off them. They are expense though, 3 of them for $93 (and that was on sale for the BBQ!). The pony needs 2 since I don't know if she was vaccinated last year. I didn't even go in the store. I got the vaccines, ate a hot dog, grabbed the free samples and left!

I think I'll have to stop spending now. Oh darn, I still have to buy a bunch of bags of peat moss for the planters...
