I picked up Eric at school today, since I needed to drop off books for their book sale this week. I also volunteered to help organize the books for an hour or so on the day of the sale...

Anyway, at about 4:15, I get a call from the neighbour. "Do you have my daughter?" Um, no, I say. She says she sees the kid on the next farm over is home (he's on the same bus as our kids), and she thinks she missed the bus! The bus usually arrives between 4:20 and 4:25, and she got home her usual "barely in time." And since the bus was early... she missed it.

Interesting. I wasn't there to save the day and get her kid off the bus. I'm sure the driver delivered the kids down the road, then came back to try to drop her daughter off again, so it will be interesting to hear the story in the morning!

Oh wow!That's pretty much my worst nightmare. What is the policy in Alberta for dropping kids off? Here, they won't drop off any kid younger than first grade if there isn't someone at the stop but they will for older kids. My neighbors are *never* out and we live on a highway and I honestly fear for their children's lives.

I have no idea what the policy is! I'm usually home at least an hour before the bus is due. It turned out that the driver took a different route than usual because so many kids were off the bus, and did come back and drop her DD off. I keep hoping these close calls will scare her into getting home earlier...
