Just Another Weekend

Quick update: The Dutch government made a great deal by buying the Dutch division of the Fortis-group including the ABN-AMRO part which was sold to Fortis last year. The Belgian politicians are a bit furious, cause they felt Fortis is sold too cheap. Well they agreed with the deal so they aren't allowed to moan now. Last year ABN-AMRO was sold to Fortis for 24 billion euro's. Last week the Dutch government bought Fortis including ABN-AMRO for 16 billion euro. So quite a nice deal. Funny th ...

Economics and Movies

I havent been able to read much yesterday cause I was a little too busy at work. Problem now is that I have to read twice as much today and I just started doing that. Its nice to read a lot of bloggers are talking about the economic crisis at the moment. It shows we all are concerned a bit. Here in Holland its a topic as well off course. No problems are expected here btw, Fortis is rescued by the government and that actually was the only bank with problems here. ABN-AMRO, bought by Fortis ...

Here, there are some problems with Fortis Bank. They made public they wont use their slogan for a while cause people were making fun of it. The slogan was: "Here today, where tomorrow? " Isnt that a very actual one? lol Here in holland already funny slogans like: "Here today, down tomorrow" and so already are made.

Sometimes I Hate it ... Sometimes Not

Do you know the feeling of constantly having a line of a song in your head? How to get rid of it I sometimes thing. For myself its not a big problem but for persons in my neighbourhood it is cause I constantly sing just that line. Questions like "cant you sing something different" are frequently asked but its just an automatic thing what happens to me, just singing that one line. At least its always a song I like. Last week, after my 70/80 party I constantly had a song in my mind from "the ...

How Do I Manage?

Since 3 weeks Prison Break is on TV again in USA. Here we always are behind so I try to get it every Tuesday to be able to watch it later in the week when the subtitles are available in Dutch (usually Wednesday or Thursday). But since last Monday I noticed also Heroes began again. How will I manage to watch that too during my "busy" week. I am not a real TV-addict but there are some shows I really want to see. Prison break and Heroes are on that list. Here in Holland we finally are able to ...

Yesterday we had a little transportation stress in the family. When I still was at work my eldest son called me what time I would be home again. Problem was, his car wasnt parked in front of our house but was gone. My youngest son had borrowed it to go to school. You need to know that my eldest son owns the car together with my wife. When my youngest one asked the car to my wife, she agreed so... he left. Problem was my eldest had to go to a soccer game with his work and after that he had ...

Something About Our Politics

Searching for the word "poldermodel" in english when I replied to Martin I found this thing of wikipedia. Just want to share the way we make politics here in Holland. Polder Model From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Poldermodel) Jump to: navigation, search The polder model is a term with uncertain origin that was first used to describe the internationally acclaimed Dutch version of consensus policy in economics, specifically in the 1980s and 1990s.[citation needed] Howev ...

I posted the same last year on blogster, but because its always quite a topic here I post it here on greasy as well Here every year the third Tuesday of September its the start of a new political year. As some of you know we have here a so called "constitutional monarchy". Our Queen is head of the government but our prime minister is political responsible for her acting. So actually its a representative function our queen has. I must admit she is very intelligent and knows a lot about all ...

Last night I decided to make a spinach-pastry. We used to eat that regularly but, for no reason, we had not eaten it for a few months now. Because it tastes so very good I want to give the prescription of making it. That doesn't mean i will start writing a cooking book here, just once a "how to cook" . Ingredients: about 1 pound of minced meat about half a pound of fungus/mushrooms little box of fat creamed cheese with garlic and herbs (we have the brand Boursin cheese) 2 eggs 1 onion abou ...

Last Friday the weather was terrible. Rain rain rain, the whole day. We are used to rain here but this day..... Friday night I went to the soccer club. Because I volunteer as a bartender there (btw my son does too), they scheduled a meeting with all volunteers talk all things over. We also were trained making draught beers. Well I already knew but it was a nice night. Saturday we had to wake up very early (6.15). We were going away the weekend. My wife sings in a choir and they celebrated ...

Yesterday was kind of a strange day. For work I had a seminar in a town at the beach not far from my home. I always want to come on time so I left home at 7.45 AM. It usually takes me 20 minutes but now in morning traffic I expected a longer drive. Well is was 20 minutes so on 8.05 I already was there while al things would start at 8.30 with coffee and conferencing from 9 am. It was an intense seminar about making exams and all official paperwork for the educational inspection. At 4 pm we ...

Its weird.... Its very weird....... Reading the blogs of my friends here sometimes took me more then 2 hours. Last weeks it sometimes takes me less then half an hour. Is there something like a "writers flu" ? I know Aaron had problems with writing and I just read Fredo does have the same with finding subjects. I can understand that cause I deal with it myself as well. But why do we have that problem all at the same time.... I never noticed that before.
Is there something in the air or so??? Like some other bloggers here I also have difficulties with writing things here. I don't know why it happens but it feels like a problem to me. Is it because I am rather busy at school now the new year started? Well I cant think of that for a reason because I were that busy earlier as well. For me its a problem to find subjects to write about. I don't want to bother anyone with boring posts in which I don't say much at all and it cant be nice to read ...

From Mortgage to Matt

We cant go back anymore. Yesterday we went to the notary to sign a new mortgage document. My debt raised with 50,000 euro's so i am feeling like a poor man now. We are just in time according to the rate of interest, its rising quite quick lately. I now pay a 5.5 % (curious about the rate in US btw) for a period of 15 years ( Lol I will retire then, weird feeling). The extra amount of money is put in a so-called "depot". When we have bills to pay, we can send them to the mortgage-office and ...
