Grandbaby Update (With Pics)

I had the camera in my pocket yesterday when we stopped off to visit the proud new parents on our way home, and naturally, I had to try a few shots. Little Virginia is a month old now... Not that I could tell by looking! I don't know about weight and that sort of thing, although the kid is healthy... Here's the pics....

How grand! Perhaps that's why they are our GRAND children.
That first photo is so soft and so much loves come through.

The first photo is enhanced, but you're right! Here's something I came across online about "grand". Not very specific...this was the best one.

grandfather

1424, from grand + father. Replaced O.E. ealdefæder. The use of grand- in compounds, with the sense of "a generation older than, or younger than," is first attested c.1225, in Anglo-Fr. graund dame "grandmother." L. and Gk. had similar usages. Grandmother also first attested 1424, from M.Fr.; grandchild, grandson are later (16c.). The verb grandfather is from 1900. Grandfather clock is c.1880, from the popular song; they were previously known as tall case clocks or eight-day clocks.
