After hearing recent news about John Daly and Charles Barkley having gambling problems I sprung and idea. I think internet gambling sites should go out get athlete sponsors. For instance, you could have Poker Stars presented by John Daley, or Poker Room presented by Charles Barkley. If athletes are going to gamble they might as well doing it on the internet. It makes gambling so much easier and allows you do it whenever you want. Once consumers find out that John Daley gambles on Poker Stars there will be massive rush business on that sight just too at least to try the sight. Also if the site has sports gambling they could have “Charles’ picks”, which would consist of Charles picks on sporting games. With the number of people gambling on the internet raising it has to be one of the most untapped markets. Consider the sense that most people who gamble on the internet are males and are sports fans. Another idea that athletes could do is charity poker tournaments. How cool would it be to go play poker with athletes? Imagine yourself heads-up against Ray Lewis in a poker tournament. That would definitely bring in a lot of people and make a lot of money for the charities. They could also have Athlete poker on TV. You could show a 10 game person poker game on TV and I bet it would draw a lot of viewers. If TO, Larry Johnson, Joey Porter, Chad Johnson, Barry Bonds, Kobe, Shaq, Ron Artest, Carlos Zambrano, and John Daley where all at one table I’m sure millions of people would watch that. You also could have team poker in which one player from each team would play against another player from another team. The drama would be unreal. Imagine two players from the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs playing heads up against each other espically if they don’t like each other. The beef could continue over from the football field to the poker table and then back to the football field. I believe that athletes should not be judged for gambling because so many other people gamble. I also think that everyone should mine their own business because if athletes can afford to gamble then they should be able to.
