  Buh Buh Brrrrrr

I've just started training harder on the bike. I did LT intervals on Tuesday, raced at Cherry Creek Time Trial on Wedneday (www.americancycling.org) and today was supposed to be more LTs. Today was cold and rainy. I like getting some results when I race so I know that it's critically important to follow the training program. Also, I have to work my ass off just to suck. Some guys are naturals and never seem to train that hard but me, it's rigerous training just to sit in the field.

So I rode out to Lookout Mountain, in Golden, my favorite training spot. It was cloudy and cold but not raining. Got a good warm up in and started the LT intervals. WOW! I couldn't get my heart rate up to LT but I was pushing huge watts, I use a powertap. After the second 10 minute interval I realized that my powertap wasn't reading correctly and when I was coasting it was reading a lot of watts. Crap. Despite the mental set back I got the work out in, got to the top of LOM just in time for it to start sleeting. It was an incredibly painful and cold ride down. A couple of times I considered turning around and climbing back up just to warm up but kept going just to get it over with. Man that was coldddd... toes, fingers and arms were pretty numb. The part that sucked even more was I was riding without a front brake because I was trying a new TT position. I raise the handlebars up about 2 inches. I'm trying to open up my hips to see if I can get more watts out. So if it works I'll have to recable the front brake. Here's the before and after. I know in the first one I look very flat and aero but if I can't get the power out aero doesn't matter.
