  The Parentals

Man I just adore them. I really do. I feel for people who have issues with their family/parents because I treasure every moment I have with mine! They are the best.

Friday night was great. I made dinner which everyone enjoyed, and then we had some chocolate peanut butter thingers. YUMMY! They turned out quite well. We stayed up til about midnight (my mom, R and I) then turned in to bed.

On Saturday morning my mom and I made potato pancakes. This was quite the adventure because we couldn't figure out the food processor - and the instructions that we REALLY needed were stuck to the wall behind the food processor, which my mom later discovered. Once these instructions were found we were off and running! Everyone LOOOOVED them. I was surprised but happy that everyone was enjoying the food I was making! Then the guys went to home depot while my mom and I went to da hood to see pal. It was A LOT of fun! We had some great food, wonderful conversation and some tasty beverages then headed back home. We all chilled out for awhile then headed out to our favorite watering hole.

Well! Everyone was soooo nice as always, the owner (who we talk to regularly) came over to the table many times to say hi, the service was phenomenal per usual, and the karaoke was great! My dad got up to sing and he was doing really well but then the dayum CD was broken so the poor guy started twice only to have it die in the same spot in the middle of the song... He's a TRUE sport tho and didn't let it effect him. He had fun! Later on R went up because the guys we are friends with at the bar begged him too. He finally did and MAN what a ham he was up there!!! It was really cute and I have a video of it on my cell phone! :0) We were going to leave at 11, and once we heard it was last call and saw it was almost 2am my mom ordered another pitcher and we closed the place with our friends (we didn't realize it was last call - my dad did - but we were all just having so much fun it didn't even phase us). TOO MUCH FUN! Once we got home, my dad went straight to bed but R, my mom and I stayed up until 5am sitting on the patio talking... It was funny at one point it started getting light out and I was like mom, what time is it? She was like oh my goodness it's 5 in the morning! We were all thinking we got home at around 11ish and that it was like 1 in the morning. Once we learned we were mistaken we promptly went to bed. hahaha

Sunday we all woke up a bit late, but then started our days. R spent most of his day in bed, but he got up when we needed him to. My mom and I went to office depot and then the grocery store. Once we got back home we started talking about getting a pantry for the kitchen (since R and I have absolutely no room in the kicthen!) and after many phone calls I found what we wanted, so my dad and R went off to get it. My mom and I stayed home and made some mac and cheese for dinner, and it was actually quite complicated! Once we figured it out we had a good laugh, but anyways!

The guys got home and we all ate dinner and just vegged on the couch. My parents were scheduled to leave today, but they decided to stay one more day. YAY! I love it. I am leaving work a little bit early again...

Soooo while they were here, my dad updated some of my electrical outlets, fixed my window screens, sprayed outside for bugs, replaced the screen door, put handles on all my cabinets and drawers in the kitchen (which dresses it up soooo nicely!), etc. etc. etc. and today he's going to put the pantry together for the kitchen. I am so very lucky to have my parents and I am so glad they came down to visit. I really do adore them so!

With that I shall say that I hope ya'll had a fabulous weekend as well!

Out till 2am and up till 5am! Wow, you're parents are party animals.
And I did feel guilty not being able to take more time off work to spend with my parents. Life just isn't fair sometimes.

Sounds like you've got yourself a couple of wonderful parents there, kid! What's cool is that you appreciate them.

I do! It's funny, growing up a bunch of our friends (my brothers and mine) all called my mom "Mom number 2". Pal still refers to my mom this way. They are just so cool... and yes, I do appreciate them for sure!

sometimes I think it's best to be separated from family members because we appreciate them more. could just be me though.

Enjoy them. I envy you. Mine have been gone a long time. I would give anything for 5 minutes with my mom. Every day you have with them is a good memory to add to your book.
