This is what its all about. Heart and soul. The Leafs could be 0-44 and this game would mean something. Its the Battle of Ontario and it never seems to surprise, well ok maybe the last two games have been a but surprising but its allways great.
The struggling Toronto Maple Leafs take on the hot Ottawa Senators. The last two meetings against the Senators the Leafs have given up sixteen goals (23-4, overall) and are 0-4 against the Senators this season.
Quinn has never lost five games in a row and the leafs could put an end to a dismal slide of losses with a win tonight. When you playing a Top team on the road two times in three nights, you have a chance to turn some heads, turn a season around and build some momentum going into the rest of the season.
The Leafs have fallen to eighth in the Conference, which is becoming a tight race. The Senators have been playing mind games with the Leafs and its going to be a make or break situation for the Leafs.
To beat the Senators is going to take nothing less than hard work in the corners, Solid defensive play through out the lineup, (yes that includes you Kronwall and Colaiacovo) and some luck. Guys need to step up and put the puck in the net. Special teams must be special. Penalty kills needs to be nothing short of great and the Leafs need to capitalize on the power play since their five on five play has been weak.
The Leafs will have Russian Defenseman Alexander Khavanov in the Lineup. His Injured rib has healed well enough for him to suit up. Neither Tucker, McCabe nor Lindros made the trip to Ottawa.
“Nothing brings out the best in the guys than seeing the Senators on the other side of the ice.” Chad Kilger told The Globe and Mail.
We fans can only hope that the Leafs can get it going Tonight, The seasons hanging on the balance of two road games against their arch rival’s.
This is what hockey’s about!
