A Reason to Celebrate

A Reason to Celebrate Feeling exhausted and overwhelmed from coping with my ill children, a kind stranger showed me what's really important. By Janet Lynn Mitchell Numbly, I left my husband, Marty, at the hospital where I had been visiting two of my children and headed for the grocery store. Since it was eleven p.m., I drove to the only store I knew was open twenty-four hours a day. I turned my car motor off and rested my head against the seat. What a day, I thought to myself. With two of ...

Thoughts of Home

I think about the old homestead The place where I was raised The dusty roads so long ago Oh, how I miss those days. The golden sunsets on the farm The scent of fresh cut hay The rippling fields of corn so green Would take my breath away. Lazy days of summer bliss A stroll down wooded lane A canopy of stars at night The smell of country rain. The precious home where I grew up Has crumbled to the ground Nothing left but barren weeds Where once, my life was found. No mother left to fill the v ...

Heavenly Father

Prayer of the Day Dear Heavenly Father, I am grateful for Your loving kindness toward me. I do appreciate Your grace and mercy in my life. When I come to You asking for forgiveness of my sins, I can feel Your mighty power cleansing me. I do want You to correct me when I need it, as I do not want to get off of the path of holiness. Lord, use me to reach out to those around me with the same love You have shown me. Guide me today in the things that I should do. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed wi ...

Birthdays

Birthdays are an annual excuse, A way of saying things we ought to say. Relatively few can sing their love Unless they do it on some special day. Hearts are shy, and words of little use. But now I want to tell you that I love you, Open up my heart and say the things Siblings seldom say to one another 'Cause of the embarrassment it brings. However long we live, I'll be with you Birthdays are an annual excuse, A way of saying things we ought to say. Relatively few can sing their love Unless ...

Seldom Do We See Trees Go Out Walking

Seldom do we see trees go out walking, Eager to drink in the morning sun. As they lift their long arms towards the light, Still they must be rooted in the earth, Of one soil and water, in one place. Night is when the restless go out walking, Seeking dreams that cannot face the sun, Gigantic, pulsing screams of garish light Reeling through the agonies of Earth, Escaping the drab certainties of place. Each winter there's a time to go out walking, To see the hills washed in a newborn sun, In ...

Beautiful eyes, beautiful face, I'm shy to talk to you. You're the eagle I must watch No matter what I do. You're the beauty, wild and free, The mistress of my eyes, Rolling through exultant air, Alone in pristine skies. I would take you for my own Could I but have your wings, Could I but go where night begins And frozen sunlight sings. Could I but have you for my love, How might we fly together! But I must watch you from below And long for you forever. But I must be the one below And long ...

Psalm 23

Psalm 23 A mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. He didn't want his mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence, but yet know that he was safe. So she had an idea of how to handle it. She asked a neighbor if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn't notice her. The neighbor said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for th ...

Dreams Do Come True

Dreams do come true, but only when They make it through despair, Limping into everyday Transformed beyond repair. No dream would be a dream if it Could pass for something real, Nor would we sail for paradise Would it its shoals conceal. So it is with love: the dream Long longed for, now possessed, Must be a dream no longer, but An emperor undressed. Stark naked it must come to us In unaccustomed shame, And we must take it in our arms And love it all the same. And we must love love as it is ...

The sun is shinning, it's still and quiet out.Birds singing, grass is green, its spring ,my favorite time of the year. Iforgot the flowers are blooming, some just begining to sprout. I am ready to meet the world this morning. Going to a friends Birthday Party tomorrow evening. I forgot if she will be 78 or 79, I think 79. She is a young 79. A beautif ...

Doctor Today

I went to my Doctor today for blood work also to find out what the Cat Scan showed. It was ok, nothing showed up to explain why I am having headaches. I was told I need to see a head ache specialist, which is also a neurologist, but they specialize in headaches. Don't know when I will be able to do that, have to go all the way into Dallas, and that makes me so nervous, all that traffic whizzing by. Will see what I can do I guess. Lizzieann

If you think you are beaten, you are; If you think you dare not ,you don't. If you like to win ,but think you can't, it's almost a cinch you won't. If you think you'll lose, you're lost for out in the world we find success begins with a fellow's will. It's all in the state of mind. If you you're outclassed ,you are you've got to think high to rise, you've got to think high to rise, you've got to be sure of yourself before you can win the prize.
Gifts from the Storm

Gifts from the Storm A few nights ago, I was awakened by a crash of thunder and a torrent of rain slamming against our tin roof. In the morning, I went out to investigate an old apple tree that had fallen in the storm. As I neared the tree stump, the most beautiful pileated woodpecker appeared and feasted on insects the broken limbs had exposed. It seems even in the destruction of storms, be they thunder and lightning or the storms of life, there are gifts to find if we look for them. This ...

Nice Day

Today was such a nice day. The pollen was up but other than that was real nice.I didn't do much, had some telephone business, that kept me busy all morning. Got out a little bit this afternoon, went to get my mail. I went up to games tonight but the tables were filled already, so I didn't play. I enjoyed visiting everyone anyway. I like to get out sometimes. Don't think we have any rain coming any time soon, no storms I hope. Lizzieann a href="http://greasy.com/cgi-bin/blogapp/img.cgi?imag ...
