  Dep. Faux Murdered

Some of you may recall that I previously posted about our town constable whom I referred to as Deputy Faux. He is pictured above and, as you can see, he is a mannequin. In a stroke of law enforcement brilliance, our town arranged to have this vehicle and its "driver" placed conspicuously where vehicles come over a rise and into town. A lot of the traffic, especially in the summertime, is tourist, and they always hit the brakes when they spot Dep. Faux.

Some local malcontent, not your average law abiding citizen, recently shot out the windows on the driver's side. A little while later, some tourists happened along and saw the damaged cop car and the lifeless deputy. They went berserk. They pulled up to a nearby home, which happened to be that of one of our town board members, and pounded frantically on his front door.

"Call the police, call the police!" the husband yelled. "Someone has shot the deputy!"

Our bemused councilman calmly explained that the deputy had been dead long before the hooligan shot out the windows. The tourists, still in somewhat of a state of shock, drove off. Now, finding the culprit is quite another matter. It may well be the same idiot who earlier had flattened the tires. This person clearly is not a law enforcement supporter. I strongly suspect he has been recently arrested and is taking out his redneck frustrations upon our hapless Dep. Faux.

The insurance company will probably be increasing Dep. Faux's insurance premium any day now...

My stepfather used to prop up a hat on an umbrella to give the look of a passenger in my car when I drove at night. Deputy Faux has taken it to new heights.

My Aunt had a male mannequinin in a chair after my uncle died because her neighborhood had a lot of burglaries. She would move him around to different windows. This was many years ago and I am happy to say she is still around.

Around here they park Deputy Faux right outside the local doughnut shop.

OMG! Say it isn't so! Were the wounds fatal, or can we still cling to hope for a speedy recovery and not too much scarring? Cousin Dep. Faux in Searchlight Nevada wasn't there the last couple times we drove that way, due to road construction.

I shot the Sheriff, but I didn't shoot the deputy.

Okay, we'll cross your name off the list of usual suspects.
