Teen Reading is Measuring Up

Well, I had a nice surprise this week after counting up the reading for the last week. Each time the teens in the summer reading program read a book, they fill out a review slip for the weekly drawing. The first week was a little off, but when I added in the reading for this week, the kids have already read 91 books, which is a big boost over last week. That is a really good sign.

If they stick on this pace, it will be close for them hitting 350 books over six weeks. Of course, if this past week turns out to be the norm, they should have no trouble hitting the target! I am actually really proud of them.

I just may have to make arrangements to get another tattoo!

I think it's so great when kids (any age) really WANT to read and enjoy it, so I think the summer reading program is a good thing, and it sounds like your reading program is doing wonderful!

So far, so good! I am proud of what they are accomplishing. I do looke forward to Monday mornings this time of year because of it! That is when I get to see how much they have read over the week.

I am working tomorrow, and I am going to try to finish putting together the syllabus for the new class I am teaching in the fall. Yeah ... I know, that does not sound fun.
