  Gadget's 'N' Gizmo's

Have you noticed that in this day and age Manufacturers expect you to be pretty much on top of new gadgets and have a fairly good idea on how to install them into your computer! Take this new camera I bought as an example. It has all the features and mod-cons you'd expect from todays demanding "professional" photographers but.....all the instructions are in every language except English!!!!

A digital camera looks the same as the next one, I automatically assumed that this sweet little credit card thin camera which would slip nicely into my purse would be simple to use and install but instead I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why the installation cd won't install. I'm begining to think there's something wrong with my computer now, one way or another somethings going back to the shop!

Does there always have to be a mind blowing event before we get to appreciate the simple things in life like taking a photo?

Thank GOD! my husband has the patience to read the instruction manuals. I hate them. Luckily I have him to teach me how to use anything that I don't quite get. (He also sets the VCR or DVD recorder... I can't do it, )

I'm pretty good with things as long at they come either color coded or in english. Other things like playstations I refuse to even look at

I can relate to this so much. The new cell phones confuse the crap outta me.. in fact just last weekend I couldn't even get my daughter's aunt's phone open! I'm not inept, slow, or behind the times but Lord Almighty do we have to "adult proof" everything so only the youngsters know it all!?

I think I can honestly say I am more of a 'Pro' with phones than I am with computers! Computers are evolving at a phenominal rate! There are so many updates daily that 'even' the user couldn't keep up with. My kids think I work for N.A.S.A

My sister came home from work yesterday with a similiar problem.Someone asked her to fix something on the computer. She grabbed the booklet and couldn't believe it,it was in Spanish. All of her co-workers are Spanish so they don't have an English version to operate the computer system. She finally fixed the problem thru trial and error but was shocked that this is the good old U.S.A.Laurie

I don't know what to say about the manufacturers we buy from only that maybe someday some 'wanna gotto get this' manufacterer will insist on making sure that 'ALL' products sold in 'his' country come with the national language! It goes to show how crap our economy is snce we are seemingly 'seem' giving 'cheap' backhand-outs to foreigners for economical growth! Life has gone to the point of 'really sucking'!!! The goverment in the UK and prob the US need to get on top of this! Consumers notice the difference - omg who wouldn't? It makes you wonder where all our taxes are going!

Do you have Vista on your computer? IF you do that might be the problem...you might have to download a bug fix. I had to on several things here...it's a pain. I would go to the website of the manufacturer...it may have something that could help.
comment by elfie33 on July 4, 2008 11:59 AM ()
No I don't have 'Vista'. I browsed the upload but it cst too much Personally I think the camera is a dud, a cheap Jap copy of a brilliant mind! I hope the owner of the patent sues tha arse off the plagerist (*spelling)

Look up the company online, they'll have a support number who can walk you through this.

And, it's a camera! This should be pretty simple. Well, it used to be to use a television, all you had to do was plug it in... but, ours is giving us fits still...

I wonder how to switch to normal screen? Well, we've got to get it going in other ways first!
reply by sunlight on July 6, 2008 5:04 PM ()
I too just adopted a new TV, it's second hand from my MIL, somehow or other the kids have managed to change the wide screen to a normal screen???? It's driving my husband round the twist I don't watch Tv so hubbys problem is the least of my concerns

I feel for ya, kid. I just bought a scanner and I'm afraid to try to install it. Maybe I'll get up the nerve over the weekend. Have a great holiday!

I always say, "When all else fails, read the directions!" But I guess that might be a tad difficult if they are not in English!

distructions I call them, but no, nothing was in English

reply by lynnie on July 4, 2008 4:41 PM ()
yea, your right about this.I still like the old floppy disc.
I took much better photos than my digital one.
comment by fredo on July 3, 2008 1:37 PM ()
I remember the floppy disc cameras, they were so much easier - although we did have to pay to get the pics to develop! In a way i'm figuring that technology has got to the point where we all have to pay some way or another. Something inside me says there's a loop hole - a deliberate error in some things that'll make sure that we take the camera or installation cd back into the shop, pay for service and nonetheless be out of pocket again. ((((Nothings for free))))!!!

I can't use the one we got Technology doesn't make things 'easier' - I try to steer away from gadgets
