  When the Rain Didn't Come!

So where have I been for 2 days? well it's like this, the weather has been scorching hot here for a few days now and i've been reluctent to miss out this year! I moved my life into the garden! Yesteday I dug out the extention lead and wired up my iron and ironing board in the 'Garden'! I even found myself looking for things to iron - how weird is that lol. I spent the entire 2 days out there - got a lovely tan!

A bit of wnd picked up last night when I was bringing in the washing off the line, in turn, the breeze picked up the bone dry dirt and sand from accross the street and created a huge dust cloud which was heading my way. Gosh I ran as fast as my little legs could carry me, not just because I didn't want to inhale to dust - but to get in and close all the windows and doors!

Well I didn't think much of this event, it's happened so many times before. What did frighten me was a documentry I saw on the TV later on; It foccussed on the Black Storm of the 1930's in the mid plains of the US and how the 30,000 foot high dust clouds obliterated areas reaching from Texas - Amerillo and beyond! The programe went into depth how the rain didn't fall and how for 10 yrs the population of those areas starved and struggled to survive with no help from the US goverment, only received some sort of help from the church and private organisations like the Red Cross.

I can't imagine how hard it must have been. It explained that before the Black storm the Wheat farmers' of these areas were raking in the money, but then  one year the rain didn't come and the economy crashed. Farmers blindy continued to sow there seeds, ploughing the fields with hope that there may be moisture in the land deeper down. How were they to know that this reaction would create this storm, They lived in hope that it would rain anyday soon! These people were so desperate.

Further on in the programe they were describing the climate changes then and how they are now; according to scientists, they believe this terrible time could repeat itself! I was astonished - I thought NO - it couldn't happen again! As I listened it explained the 'natural' occurence of the 1930's storm, that was mother natures way etc, but the next Black Storm that apparently 'WILL'  happen soon, won't be at the hands of Mother nature, it will be as a result of co2 emmisions and all other sorts of pollution. We hear it everyday don't we, and we ignorantly continue to adopt the 'choose to ignore' option. The difference is, when our children and they're children experience the next Black Storm, they won't have the hope of the rain returning, they scientist believe this effect will be irreversible as the climate change IS 'Man Made'.

This is the scarriest thing I have ever learned! I hope these old camp fire tales don't become a thing of today, we have to make some changes now.

Have a nice 'GREEN' day <3

We were watching a documentary last evening, it was telling us that if, global warming does, melt the glaciers, we could experience some incredible 'weather' pattens in 'your' lifetime. It really does, make you sit up and think.

Got to agree with the humidity - it's been awful lately, glad we've had a drop of rain today!

We're already seeing the beginning of the worst to come, i.e the increase in hurricanes and Tornado's. I can see that the worst that will happen to the UK is no winter, longer periods of rain (like Last year) and a heap of thunderstorms! If we do get any sunshine, the temps will probably be the same as we would normally get but the humidity would rise some!
