  Saturdays Musings So Far ...

...the day ain't over yet!

Sleep wasn't on the agenda last night, I laid there and listened to the hourly beeps of my hubbys watch until 7am this morning before I did finaly drop off; I coughed and coughed jeez, I can't speak today! The kids woke me [glare] about 9.30am, just aswell because Great gramps booked me to sort out his puter at 10am. If there's one life skill you have to learn with him and that's to be punctual! I called to my wakers to make me some tea, I thought that would wake me up a bit, but they said there was no milk here! (((Argh))).  I got dressed and went to G.G's house - first thing I said is put the kettle on lol.

G.G's puter is brand new, and he's a novice... I left him to his own devices since the last time I was there which could well be a few months. With this in mind there's only 2 possible reasons why his puter is chugging along slower than the continents, 1 being to many tempory files and 2 - 'Virus's', he had both! 87 thousand temp internet files, omg! and one virus. He hasn't been leaving the AVG scan his puter and he had something like 13 programes running and always left his puter in hybernation! Turning the damn thing off was taking forever, after 20 minutes waiting for the puter to turn off, I pulled the battery out of the laptop. He was to impatient to let the battery run down so this un-imaginable method was all I had left. It worked so i got on to cleaning up the c drive. 2 hours it took to gt it back right and as you can imagine I was seriously falling asleep and with little patience. I installed a cc cleaner, and showed him how to work it, he managed it straight away and I told him he must use the cc cleaner every day and switch the puter off properly every night. G'G is 87 yrs old, and I feel he's amaizing for trying out our new methods of communication and musings, he's currently learning IT on the puter, he's catching on slowly but is ever so happy it won't take him 3 hours to write 10 words anymore lol.

Anyhoo, time for a caffeine infussion. talk later, have a great weekend <3

Maybe they have computers in the hereafter! Who knows! At least Gramps will be prepared!

According to Roger, he believes gramps wants to leave the worldly bounds of this life knowing he was up to date with todays technology

It's a secret between web designers and puter egg heads

....ok ok keep your knickers on!
1) Go to 'User centre'
2) click on 'my settings'
at the top of the screen you'll see a little box with your current title written in it, this can be deleted and changed to whatever you wish.
3) Click on 'header banner' or it maybe change banner'.
4) The next screen you see will have a multiple of choice banners for you to pick from.
5) Once you have selected your design don't forget to save all your changes
...easy as that

Fair play to you Lynnette, you are a good sort and, with the patience to help an elderly man with cyber-space I would just love, to know what nanna would have made of 'the web'! I gotta feeling, she would be more inclined to try it out ~ rather than 'taking our time' like Glen (if, she has tried it ~ she hadn't the last time I spoke to her)and, I. I do regret not having tried it 'years' earlier as you lot kept nagging me to Never mind, I can do it now(

That I can believe But its funny you mentioned that, because Boffin is taking a course for a very, similar thing. (Yuo have to speak to him about it though)

I'd be designing blogsites by now if you had the internet years ago

You are a gem of a woman and great grand daughter!
comment by jondude on May 3, 2008 7:16 AM ()
I'm the adopted grand daughter, he's really Rogers Gramps. He came round here hours later after finishing his IT project, he bought me a box of chocolates for helping him, Roger nearly fell in a heap, he said he never parts with his money so I was honored

I hope that you aren't getting sick! He sounds like my kind of man, a jewel. I miss my folks so much especially when I read about the antics of yours.
