  Happy April Fool's Day

In honor of April Fool's Day:

The light of spring

On the emerald earth,

Two giggling souls,

And a mood of mirth,

A foolish jest,

That a smile amends —

It took no more

To make us friends.

From the poem, "Song," by Alice Duer Miller

Posting a blog on April Fool jokes played on students would require too much memory. Let's just say I was devious--the infamous pop quiz caused classroom panic.

The infamous POP QUIZ!!! Say no more! Just the thought of it triggers memories of panic! You sly fellow.... I'm reminded of my chemistry teacher, who was fond of giving us strange things to analyze in the lab. He felt qualitative analysis helped the students really put theory to practice, and he loved to teach the fun of discovery. I always prayed I'd have salt — one lucky soul always did! I finally did, and guess when — the final exam! What a gift!
P.S. For those of you who don't know or have forgotten, salt can be definitively identified simply by its cube structure. One look under a microscope and you're done! A+!

I miss playing pranks on my students on this day.

Okay now, Randy, I think this would be one great prank tell all post! I'd love to read what your clever mind cooked up for your students.

Today is Hobbes' second birthday celebration. We have enjoyed some treats and cottage cheese. He is currently licking his whiskers and belching.
