  Emergency in the Bush

This weekend was interesting in the aspect to my sister … I barely saw her at all. She's usually over with my niece every weekend since she doesn't like staying at home while her husband is out on his overnight trucking runs.

Mom: Did you know your sister went to Baraboo?

Me: *Feeling exhausted* … Hmmm?

Mom: Yeah, she went to Devils Lake in Baraboo, she didn’t tell you?

Me: Maybe (I was lying, I don’t remember my sister telling me she was going)

Friday and Saturday she was in Baraboo with her girlfriends, doing god knows what, haha! She's been married for three years, has a one-year old daughter and a job. She lives life to the fullest, more than I do. Anyway to the post title. I was talking to her today and she was saying that during her outing with her friends she really had to use the restroom. Unfortunately they were in some isolated area, so no restrooms at all.

Sister: So I found out Malinda and Ash went to the restroom somewhere.

Me: Okay, why didn’t you just go there then?

Sister: Because we went off-roading, so it was in a desolate area and I really, really had to go. So they told me they went behind a bush.

Me: Are you joking with me?

Sister: No … anyways I went to the area where they told me. Found some tracks and assumed that it was there. But I couldn’t find the area that they used.

Me: So what did you do?

Sister: I had to go, so I went behind a bush and did my business.

Me: That’s so nasty, I wouldn’t have done that at all. Ewwww, that’s nasty. (I was eating dinner while she was telling me all this)

I guess when you have to go … you really have to go. Sounds like she had fun with her friends though.

Found out that she was “temporarily laid off” at her part-time job. Which sucks because she really seemed happy working there. She was telling me one of the occupational therapists was taking a leave, so “by law, they could only keep people working full-time and had to get rid of the part time workers”. That’s what her boss told her.

What bugged her was that even though they “let her” go, they still kept a guy who’s part-time. He started the same day she did, so she was wondering why they let her go but not him. I don’t know if she’s really bummed about it because I don’t sense any anger or resentment, just disappointment. I told her to just start looking again and maybe it was for the best. It just really sucks that she was, “let go”.

Going behind a bush? I don't know anyone who hasn't.

I doubt I would pee behind a bush either, as an adult. When I was a kid and went camping, we sometimes had no choice but to go behind the bushes.

I don't know that it was 'fun' but I do remember not having any choices in the matter because there were no outhouses or outdoor bathrooms.

I suppose when you're a kid it might be fun to pee outdoors -- the freedom and everything.

You'll never make it to 30 without peeing behind a bush yourself, sweetie! Nobody does. Amazingly, we all get over it.

Your poor sister!
I would never been able to go behind the bushes either so don't feel bad. But then again, I like going to the bathroom in privacy!

Me too. I'm not big on doing my business outside anyway. I went to camp like everyone else but we always had restrooms to use -- maybe I'm spoiled.
