  Going Banana's

Last night I tried my hand at baking. Yeah how exciting huh? Baking by myself on a Friday night, ha! So we had about 5 banana’s that were about to spoil and I couldn’t eat all that in one day. So I started browsing the Internet to do something about it … Banana Bread!

So I turned on the radio and started to gather my ingredients, while dancing to whatever was playing on the radio. Sorry if the pictures are taking long to load, they were from my camera and I didn’t turn down the resolution of the pictures.

Ingredients:

Brown Sugar
Salt
Butter
All-Purpose Flour
Eggs
Overripe Banana’s

I didn’t have a mixer which made it more difficult when I had to creme the butter and brown sugar together. Let’s just say it gave me a good arm workout when mixing those ingredients. You can see I made a little mess while mixing, haha. It was all good though.

This was after I mixed all the ingredients together, the batter color looks nice and creamy after mixing it by hand for goodness knows how long, haha. After the batter was mixed it was ready to be poured into a 9×5 loaf pan. The only thing was my Mom only had the small aluminum kind. Which meant instead of one large loaf, it would be two mini ones.

Right before going into the oven, I was afraid of the batter overfilling.

Halfway baking … eh … it looks decent, at least it didn’t overfill. They remind me of large muffin tops instead of bread.

Voila, the final product! Color looks decent and it smelled really good right out of the oven. Sorry if the picture is a bit blurry, my hands were shaking. But it looks nice.

Pretty tasty. Not bad for a first time banana bread baker.

Congratulation on beautiful banana bread. We call it "Nana bread" because my Italian Godmother, whom we called Nana, made it. That and Zucchini Bread. Yum!

Every guy should know how to bake basic stuff, like banana bread, whole wheat bread, brownies, and a couple of other basic meals, like stews or chowders, a couple of pasta dishes, a fruit salad and a veggie salad. Of course, how to grill steak and chops, or broil them in an oven. You will be going far in life with those skills. No, macaroni and cheese from a box doesn't count as a meal.

My Mom calls her banana bread "Babcia bread" after my Polish grandmother, whom we call Babcia.
It is a good idea for guys to learn to cook and bake basic recipes. I think the first thing my Mom taught me to make (when I was around 11 years old) was meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and gravy. I also can make killer potatoe and cheese pierogi.

Oh I know! I love banana bread batter...yum!
My Mom likes to put walnuts when she makes her banana bread. I forgot to add it to mine. I forgot she stores her nuts in the freezer.
Adding blueberries is a great idea! I'll have to try that next...thanks for the idea

I love banana bread, fresh from the oven with butter melting on it. yummmmmm

Yum..I love it that way too
I also like it when the bread is a few days old. Just stick it in the micro for a few seconds (like 30) and it freshens it right up. It melts most of the butter and drips down over your fingers. I also like when my Mom uses a powder sugar and milk glaze over the top of the loaf. It's really good that way.

Walnuts are very, very good in banana bread! Yummy! I had a pet squirrel, Bobby who absolutely loved banana bread or cake and would do his fox squirrel chatter if we kept him from munching his fill!

Funny story. Bobby is a cute name for a squirrel
I love walnuts -- they are a very healthy nut too.

Nice looking product! I don't prefer bananas, but this looks good anyway!

Thanks!...My brother-in-law doesn't like banana's either. I think he had an unripe one when he was a child and that ruined him for life.

There is a blogging rule you may not know of (especially since i just made it up!!) and that is is you give a recipe and bake an item you must send us all a piece--just send mine on the next plane from Wisconsin!!!

That's an interesting rule
I wish I could give out the recipe but it was off the Internet, and I didn't keep a copy of it. Next time my Mom makes banana bread I'll post her recipe for whoever wants to try it.
I'd spread my bread around if I could

My Mom could market her banana bread. It's that good.
