Baby Love Bib



MATERIALS: 1 50g/1.75 oz ball worsted weight cotton yarn
1 pair 4.5mm/7 US needles
1 size 4 crochet hook
1 darning needle

Size: 20cm/8 in X 19cm/7.5 in

TENSION: 20 sts & 26 rows with 4.5mm/7 US needles = 10 cm/4 inches

Cast on 29 stitches.
Rows 1, 3 & 5: Knit.
Rows 2, 4 & 6: Increase 1 stitch, knit to last stitch, increase1 stitch. (35 stitches)
Row 7: Knit.
Row 8: K 4, p27, k4.
Rows 9 & 10: Repeat rows 7 & 8.
Row 11: K17, YO, SSK< k16.
Row 12 and all even rows to row 38: K4, p27, k4.
Row 13: K14, k2tog, YO, k3, YO, SSK, k14.
Row 15: K13, k2tog, YO, k5, YO, SSK, k13.
Row 17: K12, k2tog, YO, k7, YO, SSK, k12.
Row 19: K11, k2tog, YO, k9, YO, SSK, k11.
Row 21: K10, k2tog, YO, k11, YO, SSK, k10.
Row 23: K9, k2tog, YO, k13, YO, SSK, k9.
Row 25: K8, k2tog, YO, k15, YO, SSK, k8.

Row 47: K11, cast off 7 sts, k11.
Working on right side of bib, k2tog at outside edge every row and k2tog at neck edge every other row until 1 st remains. Transfer stitch to crochet hook and crochet single chain tie for 25cm/10 inches. Cut yarn and work left side to correspond to right side.
Optional: Crochet single chain around bib for a finished edge.

Nice job on that! Gee, I don't think anybody uses things like that around here...at least I've never seen it. They all use those terry cloth type things. That's very pretty.

For awhile the only dishcloths I would knit had the heart pattern and I figured that was my trademark. I'm so glad I've moved on to the sweater (that I hope will get finished some time this summer) but I'll try this bib pattern after I get done. I love it done in the pink variegated.
