More Socks?

Why on earth am I still knitting socks? Summer has finally begun. I should be knitting sleeveless, cotton tops. It's sunny and WARM out there so why am I knitting more socks? Because, now that I've discovered patterned and lace socks, I love knitting socks. I use to hate it. I found it too boring and kept wishing my feet were a couple of inches shorter. Introducing the newest addition to my sock drawer:

I'm Gettin' Too Old for This

I had The Three Year Old today. I am so utterly exhausted I just want to lie down and have a nap. Unfortunately, sleep eluded me last night and if I give in to a snooze now I don't expect I'll sleep very well tonight either. I don't know why he tires me out. He was only here for and hour and a half, today. Maybe it's because preschoolers demand your undivided attention. He certainly had mine this afternoon. As three year olds go he is an exceptionally good natured child and I'm not just sa ...

Lucky Me

I have scored a trainer for free. It all started a week ago when I placed an ad for the walking poles, The M-I-L gave me, in two local newspapers. I received only one phone call. A lady phoned and seemed kind of unsure of herself. She asked what brand the poles were and I told her. Then she confessed her true reason for calling. She thought that maybe I was selling the poles because I had no one to walk with. She told me she had just completed a walking course in Vancouver and would be hap ...

I AM the Winner

in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes...........if they draw my number. Looks like things have changed since I was last on their mailing list. They are no longer pushing magazine subscriptions. Now it's merchandise, made in China, crap merchandise. Sunglasses, battery operated pencil sharpeners, silicone cupcake cups and model cars. Jewelry, ultrasonic pest repellers (with night light), omelet pans and wrinkle erasers for you face, not your clothes just to name a few. I can't imagin ...

Nice Day

I had a lovely Mother's Day. I got to sit back and relax with my knitting......after I finished the laundry, did the grocery shopping and cooked a dinner of corn ham and scalloped potatoes. I think DH may be coming down with whatever I had last week. Both daughters popped over, sans kids, to present me with cards and presents. DD#1 gave me a solar powered dragonfly lamp for the garden and DD#2 gave me a bouquet of heavenly scented carnations. I had a nice day.

Tonight

I cooked supper. I just couldn't bring myself to make DH do the cooking as well as the washing up. He's been working so hard for the past couple of months. I hope he doesn't get this bug. It's not pleasant. I suppose I'll be doing the rest of the laundry tomorrow. DH did launder, fold and put away the mountain of dirty towels in the bathroom. If I'm up to it, I wouldn't mind getting out of the house for a bit. I'm thinking I could go to the dollar store and pick up some glue, a clear plast ...

A Good Day for Knitting

'cause it ain't too good for anything else. I think I might have had food poisoning or maybe the flu on top of a cold on top of allergies. Yesterday I felt like crap but today's not too bad. At least, not since I popped a few cold pills. At least I can breath now. I really wasn't looking forward to two and a half hours with The Three Year Old and then his mom called and said his dad got off work early so she didn't need me today. I didn't even get dressed. I did don my big, baggy and oh so ...

Sleepknitting

You've heard of sleepwalking, right? Well, a little after nine this morning I nodded off in my chair while working on the Shetland shawl I'm designing. Ya, I know. It serves me right for staying awake for over 24 hours. Anyway, I felt my arm jerk, my head snapped to attention and I simultaneously realized I had just woken up from a little snooze and I was still knitting. Thank goodness I was only working on the central, garter stitch square. I don't want to think about what would have happ ...

Now I'm Scared

At 10:51 pm the phone rang. I got up to see who would be calling at this time of night and I see the call display says Blocked Call. Well, I'm not answering it. The last time I answered a Blocked Call it was from The M-I-L's alarm service. Apparently her personal alarm had been activated but her favourite son didn't answer his Blocked Call and I had to call him, late at night, to tell him to go check on his mother before the cops broke down her door. The time before that, I had to wake DH ...

Our West Coast Native Art Collection: I had to take the photos at an angle to prevent glare from the camera's flash. Two Sue Coleman prints flanking Raven with the Sun. This picture was given to me by a friend 36 years ago. DH had it reframed for one of my birthdays. Tyee Moom by Roy Henry Vickers. We have a more of his art work but the rest of them adorne the walls of DH's office, in town. Thunderbird; painted, etched aluminum. Thunderbird and Whale; etched aluminum.
My Rowan Tree

WOW! This is me, warts and all. Rowan Tree aka Mountain Ash (Sensitivity) -- full of charm, cheerful, gifted without egoism, likes to draw attention, loves life, motion, unrest, and even complications, is both dependent and independent, good taste, artistic, passionate, emotional, good company, does not forgive. I'm so sorry. I forgot to mention that I got this from sunlight's blog. She in My Friends' list.

Socks & Sweaters & Nails

I've finished another pair of socks. They're the same as my last pair of socks, just a different colour and will be a gift for someone special for Christmas or maybe her birthday. I'm currently working on a little, V-neck pullover. It was supposed to be for The Three Year Old but I didn't have enough yarn and had to knit a smaller size. If I don't sell it beforehand, the next born grandson can have it. It's in green and off-white with a train on the front. I'll post a picture when I get it ...

I'll Sleep Well Tonight!

I made the supreme sacrifice and decided to forgo washing the floors today so I could walk the track again. That's two days in a row! I'm looking forward to another great night's sleep. I tell ya; thirty minutes of speed walking works so much better for me than melatonin and sleeping pills combined which, by the way, I've never actually tried. I was a bit miffed when I arrived to see an elementary school gym class jogging around the track. Fortunately, before I finished my first lane they ...

Walking the Track

No, not the rail road tracks. The track at the local stadium. The (train crazy) Three Year Old thinks I go for long walks down the train track and wants desperately to come with me some day. He's going to be mightily disappointed. So, as I was saying, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and it was a glorious day. I hopped in the car and drove over to the stadium. By the time I got there, a few rain drops had splattered on my windshield. As I start my second time around the track th ...

My Wrap Coat Hat Again

I finally felted the hat. It still seems to be a little loose around my head so I think I'll have to felt it some more before I actually wear it out in public, next Fall. Also, I was most disappointed that the Noro colours disappeared behind the fuzz. I was also disappointed by DH's photography skills; the big nose, the baggy eye and the sagging chin. My photos of him always turn out so much better. Remember this? It now looks like this.

My Free Patterns

are a hit! I'm so pleased with the response I've received. A couple of days ago I sent links for my latest two patterns to Knitting Pattern Central and since then my "Post Reads" have jumped from 1,188 to 3,134 and climbing. Knitters all over the world seem to like the lace patterns so my next design will be lace. Nothing is calling to me yet but something will inspire me, I'm sure. Maybe a lacy baby set. That way I can kill two birds with one stone; designing and kitting something for Oct ...
