  Happy Thanksgiving

I hope all of my Canadian friends are having a happy Thanksgiving weekend. DH and I are having DD#1 and her family over for dinner. Dinner will consist of most of the usual staples; turkey that's too big for my roasting pan, mashed sweet potatoes, oven baked sausage stuffing, gravy, pumpkin pie (I made it all by my little old self) and vanilla ice cream. I'm not going to bother with the brussel sprouts this holiday as I think it's only DH and myself who likes them so we're having corn instead. DD#1 is bringing an apple pie. What I will be eating is some turkey, sweet potatoes, corn and a little bit of gravy. I have an appointment with the hospital lab for bright and early tomorrow morning to find out if my pre-diabetes has progressed to full blown diabetes (wish me luck). I do, however plan on eating pie and ice cream when I get home from the hospital.

UPDATE: DD#2 and her son's will be joining us for dinner after all and she's bringing the brussel sprouts. Guess it's a good thing I bought the BIG turkey.

Comments:

I was surprised at how Brussels sprouts people in England eat - pretty much standard on every plate at home and in restaurants. They also serve their stuffing in ball shapes about the size of a tennis ball. I didn't pay a lot of attention to whether they were deep fried in some cases, but they looked like it.

My MIL did peas. I didn't even touch the pumpkin pie. Somehow I only like it if I made it myself.
