  Pole Walking

Back in May I put an ad in the local rag for the walking poles The M-I-L gave me a few years ago. I only received one phone call about them and it was from a lady who didn't want to buy them but was looking for someone to pole walk with. So, I have taken up pole walking. It really does give a better workout than just walking. Your upper body gets a good workout as well as the lower body.

Suffice to say, I am enjoying the pole walking. I have however discovered one drawback to this activity. The grips and my hands become quite damp and slippery with sweat in this warm weather. I have solved that problem by inventing "Pole Cozies". Go ahead and laugh but I make them out of wool so they absorb all the sweat and keep my hands firmly in place. They are soft and cushiony to hold and can be removed for washing. I'll be posting the pattern shortly.

I've been seeing some pole walkers around here on a pretty regular basis. There are also a few who do year 'round cross country skiing (the skis have wheels on them when there's no snow) so they do pole ski-walking. Please excuse my ignorance, but are the poles supposed to come to a certain height in relationship to the body, so that you order/purchase them by the length you want?

The poles are adjustable and set according to your height. Sort of, one size fits all.

I started to think it’s a brave bag-snatcher that would take on a pole-walker.

I imagine you’ve had some orders from the rest of the walking club...

Whuuut! Pointed and larfed!!

And then may she trip and stumble over the rotted off pointy finger.

The only other walker in 'my club' pointed and laughed at them. Now I wouldn't knit her a pair if she begged me. May her pointy finger sweat so much it rots and falls off.

That Fredo! What a sense of humor! Pole walking! Never heard of it, but I can see the advantage. Where do you buy the poles?

What novel idea! Put them on ebay.....you will probably make a fortune.
