  Eligibility

It used to be that graphic designers worked primarily on printed matter, i.e., flyers, album covers, posters, etc.

Today though, the digital age has broadened the description to include web design, animation, motion graphics.

2/3 of the job postings require the latter skill set. Very few positions want the graphic designer who adheres strictly to print.

It seems that for every position I apply for, several before me were "let go". Competition in this metropolis is great.

July marks the 6th month of my unemployment. My mom's been praying for that 'just right job', assuring me that my life is on God's timeline.

I'd like to believe that. For some reason, Eckhart Tolle's book isn't helping me. Neither is "The Secret"...

So here it is, the eve before July. What happened to June?

I just sent a cover letter, resume, and several samples to a design studio in Culver City. This is one of 3 jobs I'm pursuing on the "west side" - and if I land any of them, it will mean a 2 hour round trip commute in my car. Ouch.

Other trans options are the metro rail or bus. The math on that means it could take up to 3 hours. Hm.

There is a brand spanking new studio in the process of being designed about one mile away. Already sent in my paperwork.
I have even prayed to land this position, which by description, sounds ideal.

Maybe it IS that "just right job" on God's timeline waiting to employ me?
