Our son got us special seats at Herb Alpert's Jazz Bar + Grill, Vibrato - for a private show.

He is a sound tech for Herb and it was a night of filming for their upcoming dvd, so we were treated to a whole set (2 hours) of really tasteful music.

Herb and Lani Hall are backed by 3 musicians: pianist Bill Cantos

Hussain Jiffrey (sorry no pic), and Mike Shapiro

Vibrato is an elegant, intimate (80 seats) environment where everything has been acoustically designed.

The ceilings have glass spheres that look like circular frozen lava.

The stage and audience are underneath with Herb's artwork sprinkled throughout.


After the show, my boys were getting a stretch and some water.

Herb + Lani and the band really did a great job.

And the bar was shaped like a baby grand with sculpted bronze reliefs of legendary horn players. It was so dark, and nearly impossible to get better pictures - also, they requested no photos during the taping. Wonderful night!
