  Deluge!

Well, we have survived the deluge of earthquakes so far with the largest being measured at 4.7 on the Richter Scale.

There was a lot of shaking going on, but the damage has thus far been limited to two broken cereal bowls, one broken picture frame, two sets of picture glass broken and several cracks in the paint on the upper corners of the archway into our study.

Several neighbors about two blocks away lost much more with major damage to window glass and cracks in the concrete slab.

The strange thing is that we are several blocks closer to the epicenter of the quake. Go figure.

It has been relatively quiet for the past twelve hours. The dogs are great for-casters, barking or growling several minutes before we can feel the quake and they have been silent for about twelve hours now.

The folks who seemed to have lost the most had lots of "stuff." The worst losses being to those people who had fancy glass fronted hutches with expensive china and glassware inside.

We have stone walls here in this Webb development and the quakes have done some damage to the ones that are lower in height.

The walls are used for terracing, helping prevent erosion and slides. The smaller ones seem to be no big deal, but if not repaired, some folks could have dirt in their back yards or even in their front room when wet weather approaches.

It has been an interesting ride this far.

Y'all take care hear?

We are fine. The magnitude of the quakes as diminished and there are fewer of them.

Haven't checked yet this morning,

There was another at 4.2 magnitude this morning early. We were not there so don't know about any damage. Neighbors have our phone number, so we will be kept informed.

We came down to Sacramento yesterday afternoon for business and because JoAnne has to work at the college today.

We have had several here in So. Illinois--5.2 then followed by aftershocks. I'm glad to here that you are fine.

We are still having small ones this morning. Dogs are not responding to these. Either they are too small for their attention or they have gotten used to them.
