Bidin' My Time
Bidin' My Time
My period is due today. It's usually on time, or early (although
for a couple months in the last nine it came 2 days late--yeah, that
fucked with me big time), but it normally comes at the end of the
day. Last month, it showed up at 10PM, as I was getting ready for
bed. So, I am still waiting. I have not done an HPT
test. I know some people get addicted to them, and because I have
a rather obsessive-compulsive personality as it is, I feel it is not
such a good idea to launch myself down the road of daily testing.
If I do not get it by Sunday morning, I have decided that I will test,
and not one minute before! Plus, for me (and I know that other
people feel the exact opposite), I feel less disappointed finding out
I'm not pregnant by actually seeing blood than the absence of a line on
a plastic stick.
Not to mention it's cheaper this way. (Miser, remember? ) :-)
I am working at home today. About an hour ago, I went into the
backyard and discovered that my dog (remember my wonderful dog from
several posts ago?) has started to dig two new holes that go under the
chain-link fence that separates our yard from our neighbor's.
This is mainly because they also have two dogs, and my dog enjoys
playing over there. I'm sure, to his little doggy mind, it makes
perfect sense--sort of like a secret passageway to his friends'
house. But to me, it's extremely frustrating, because everything
I have tried to get him to stop has not worked. I have combined
punishment (yelling NO DIG! while standing him next to the offending
holes), and reward (bringing him over to the hole in the corner of the
yard that I've decided I can live with, and putting treats in it while
praising him for digging there). I have tried spraying bitter
apple on the holes in question. I have tried putting a piece of
his little doggy poop in the hole. I have tried putting rocks
over said holes. Nothing has worked for long.
Part of the problem is that we allow him to go in and out of the yard
during the day while we are at work. But I don't want to crate
him for eight hours at a stretch, and I also don't want him to start
urinating/defecating in the house because he can't hold it. We
bring him to day care one day a week, but that costs $18 a day, and we
are a decidedly middle-class family. I just don't have it in me
to spend close to a hundred dollars a week to bring him every
day.
What to do, what to do.....
