I had been keeping a tight lip about my older sis' heart surgery because like her, I couldn't really talk about it. Talking about it made it more real and scary.

She's recovering in the ICU right now and had her heart valve replaced this morning. The surgery went quickly with no complications and she is reportedly doing very well - considering.

I was in complete denial this morning and was shutting down until lil sis called with the good news. My co-worker kept asking what was up and I just kept telling her that I was tired... I didn't even realize myself why I was clamming up. I put it out of my head because I just couldn't think about it. A complete mental block.

But as soon as I heard that older sis was doing well, I perked right up and could feel the weight lift off my shoulders.


I knew she'd be fine but it didn't stop me from worrying.

Don't be scared. I've read that it's a very common surgery and very successful. I'll try to post updates over the next couple months on her recovery.

Thanks,sweetie. We've been mentally prepping for it for months now... but it still didn't make it less worrisome. I'm just so happy that it went well.

They do a lot of these type of surgery.
And very successful at it.
Glad that she came through.
When I had my by pass was not sure if I make it or not.
These surgeon does a great job there.

She's in the bigger city near my hometown. My parents and lil sis went back to the hospital to visit her today. I asked Older sis if she wanted me to fly out and she responded, "why would you do that?" Uh, I thought the reason was obvious and she told me that she'll be fine and has her boyfriend and our parents to look after her. I think she appreciated the offer despite her reaction.
