  Random Thoughts

Today I went shopping... I go shopping a lot... at least once a week. I was driving on a lonely stretch, but it was so beautiful. ALL the hills were completely yellow! They were wildflowers... actually mustard flowers. They were everywhere! I really wished that I had a camera. But then I guess I would need a digital kind to post them to my blog. Well, I'm not sure of the terms. (The last camera I had, I gave away when I quit working. I didn't need it any more... I thought. Besides it wasn't digital... or whatever.)

I put a music player on my opening page, with great difficulty. Not that I think anyone would turn it on... As a matter of fact, I find it rather difficult to think and read or write and listen to music at the same time. It's probably because the music I listen to must have words. I went to Annie's site, and she wisely put on a music player with only instrumentals. I tried to do that, but it won't give me another music player to put on a separate page... for instance with this article, so you could listen to some of Aaron Copland's softer stuff as you read... But, it let James (eky) do that... Discrimination! (No wonder Hillary doesn't have a chance.)

I heard that Starbuck's was cutting back. I think that's a wise idea. We don't really need so many Starbucks. I only went there twice... both times with Marie, who really likes some concoction there. I like simple coffee with lots of cream. When she ordered a tall, I was concerned, but it turns out a tall is really a small! So why do they call it a tall, I wonder?

I read on the Huffington Post that Bob Dylan won a Pulitzer Prize! I didn't know they gave them to song writers, but Bob's done some great works on lyrics. Practically every singer I know has recorded a Dylan song at one time or another. Even though my husband hates Bob, he did grant that he writes great lyrics... So I guess Bob really did deserve the award.

Notice this piece is not red, so it doesn't seem so ..... scattered. Well, maybe it does... and maybe it doesn't.

This last part is for Doc!!! Here are the cookies. I spent all day baking them. I don't usually bake... I never bake. They are very tasty because I ate one. So meet you on Thursday at 1:00 PM, Delectable Doc?

My kids were crazy about Bob Dylan when they were in high school. Once I began to pay attention to the lyrics I had to agree that some of them were great poetry. But I thought the Pulitzer was for Journalism

I love Dylan lyrics, but I was surprised, too! Maybe they've expanded the Pulitzer awards... Who knows? I don't.

There's a corner in Vancouver that has a Starbucks on three corners and another just down the street... and all four of them are always busy.I heard about Bob Dylan being awarded. I saw an interview done when he was much younger, and he was quite modest saying something like people find what they want to in his lyrics - he never sets out to make a statement... everyone gives him more credit than he deserves. Funny.

So you actually go to Starbucks? Well, at least it's convenient for you if there are four of them right together. Guess they were needed there if they all stay busy! But weight for weight, it costs way more than gasoline... well, I suppose everything costs more, if you go by weight! Bob... whether he admits it publicly or not is a genius with lyrics! And, he knows it... He grew rich and famous!

From yellow hills to music players to Starbuck's to Bob Dylan! Quite the spectrum here today Sunny! The hills must have been GORGEOUS! When you described them, I closed my eyes and tried to picture them. I don't know anything about music players, but I agree with you - it is difficult for me to concentrate on reading or writing (even a letter to a friend) when there are lyrics filling my ears. I ve been to Starbuck's about a dozen times in my life and fail to see the attraction. Give me my coffee with milk, and thank you very much. Finally, Bob Dylan is a absolute genius who writes poetry and puts it to music.
Great post today, kid! Thanks!

Jim, you're right. The hills were just lovely, wonderful! And, it is impossible to concentrate with words of music (although it doesn't seem to bother some people...) There IS NO attraction to Starbucks -- that I can see! And, Bob Dylan is a writer's writer, as I mentioned to Jon, which is why you two can really appreciate his word-craft.

reminds me, I LA. Lived there 25 years before moving on again. I like the people (but not so many), the craziness, the lack of attention span - the place grows on one

Well, Joe, I've lived in Northern California, the Central Valley, and Southern California, and I like Southern California the best! It's all crowded these days, but I guess it's a personal preference. It's crazy all over here.

I'll take some of those cookies too--coffee with substitute sugar and sugar free cream!See if I do that then I can have the cookies, right??? I've always enjoyed Bob Dylan.

I know that it's true that you can eat cookies if you use substitute sugar and sugarless cream. I know it's true because I do it and then I eat the cookies...

I prefer dunkin donuts coffee. they seem to make it just right! but mostly I just drink my home brewed stuff. I don't make cookies cuz then I eat them all.

Mary, as I said, I never bake... I also use coffee made at home. Well, I just pour water over the instant stuff. And, I even like McDonald coffee!

All videos on my computer download slowly -- it can be a half hour or more. I get discouraged. Yes, my computer is from the dark ages. I eschew cookies. It's the calorie thing.

A half hour to download? That's a very very very long time... I like cookies, but try not to eat too many.

Those cookies look delicious and yes, I do like Starbucks, but only go about once every couple of months. They are all over the place here in Hawaii. There's one right at the end of our street.

I think Starbucks are all over the place all over the world. I also think there were way too many of them, as they found out!

I do too, Must! I need the cream, though... Otherwise it's a little strong for me.
