  Simple Things

I recall Elderjane had a list of simple things that she liked to do. I tucked that in my memory and think now might be the time to write some.

1. Make some vanilla ice cream with Trader Joe's blueberry sauce on it. Eat it.

2. Go shopping early enough to have a teeny cup of freshly brewed coffee to drink while I'm shopping. They put away the free coffee at noon. (And, they don't sell coffee at the refreshment stand at that store, and doesn't free coffee just taste better?)

3. Listen to some really good country music on the DVD drive of my computer... I can see the guys singing while I listen!

4. Try to find something that I thought I would never see again in my life on Youtube.

5. Anticipate September when I might see some of my friends for a tiny snack and a tiny visit.

6. Find some fresh figs at the market and eat them before I get home.

7. Hmmm, too many of these are about food. Get an email from my brother.

8. Go through some old children's books and remember simpler times when there were no responsibilities. Then read a book like Hannibal Lechter to remind myself of the real world.

9. Try on my gold sandals and think about maybe wearing them the next time I go out... no matter where it would be.

10. Go out to collect wildflowers to press and make a Martha Stewart tray from them.

11. Think about running a marathon, which is what is on the Olympics right now. No, Randall, I could never do it... but I can think about it. Does anybody ever wonder how China got the games? I wonder if it had to do with someone getting a payoff from one of the fastest growing economies in the world? But, of course, they wouldn't cheat...

12. Write something profound. Not yet accomplished, but working on it. Then maybe putting it in an email and sending it around the world.

13. Make myself a new summer dress just in time for fall.

14. Make up some really good profanities to use the next time someone honks at me while I'm driving.

15. Write them down so I won't forget them... Hide them so no one will be able to read them.

Well, for goodness sakes! I don't look at my visitors, don't pay attention to the number of visitors to my blog, but I do look at technorati... probably because I like the word authority... Well, I didn't know you could lose authority! I thought once you had a certain number, you had it and you could only go up. I looked just now, and I have lost 3 authorities. So not only am I 231,765 from the top, but I have less authority! Well, one consolation: Angie has a HUGE 75 authority!!! Hers is the highest I have in my list!

As far as technorati and "authorities are concerned...HUH? I don't understand ANY of it! I don't even know what it means. I've even asked Eddie about it, and still, I don't get it. (Sometimes I feel so stupid!)

Ah, Jim... Your specialty - people - is so much more interesting and more worthwhile than the technical stuff... I don't think any of us really understand technorati. I was just kidding about the "authorities." But, I lost 3 of them.

It always is! Do you have a Trader Joe's in Hawaii? They sell really healthful foods... notwithstanding the sweet blueberry sauces!

I caught your plug (#ll). After I watched the marathon, I went out and ran 8 miles the next day! How do they do it? Fun list.

Cofee and a snack sounds good. Ted is an ex Marine. He could probably help with the profanity.

Gosh, Jeri, you just reminded me I was hungry. Now where did I leave those snacks? And, since I don't have cable, I could use some help... with ... you know...

Wonderful list--especially the children's books. So many good memories.

Ah, Angie! The children's books... they are a source of great comfort. They are so full of hope and life lessons!

Well, since I need as much authority as you have (technorati), I guess I'm going have to be on a little while every day... if I can!

I can give you a few suggestions of some really good profanities if you need any help.Laurie
