Re: George Carlin: Read this in the paper today. And this is not one of the "Nine Words You Can Never Say On Air--"  George said it's okay if you say you "prick your finger", but NOT okay to say "you finger your -----."

I thought that was hilarious.  Susil

Sue, I found it on Audible.com. It's called "Classic Gold" and there are several others there too.

Carlin was a great favorite of mine. I'm sorry I missed the HBO special.
I hope they run it again.

Hi teal; HBO ran hours of Carlin's routines last night (Thursday)
(And here at 4:30am he's on again.) Hope you get to see him.

Did you see the special last night on HBO on him...they had a marathon of his shows at different colleges...it was fantastic
comment by elfie33 on June 26, 2008 10:44 AM ()
Hi elfie; I did see that, and enjoyed it immensely.
He was a sharp guy.

George Carlin was a very wise and witty man.I also read he only had a ninth grade education. It's hard to believe he is gone.Laurie

Hi dogs; He was astute and acerbic at pointing out human
foibles; I didn't know he was more or less self educated!

When I went out of town recently, I listened to a collection of his routines while I was driving! I love his humor.

Hi Karen; I'm gonna have to see if I can find a collection
of his routines--I liked the one about people and their
"stuff." (That's an old one.)

Oh, I'm so sorry to see the "hippy dippy weatherman" leave us. PS: I wonder what those other two words are (it's 7)?
comment by solitaire on June 25, 2008 2:48 PM ()
Hi sol; YOU ARE RIGHT! It is seven words you can
never say on TV, not nine!
reply by susil on June 27, 2008 2:50 AM ()
funny

Hi Hawaii, I also liked Andrew Dice Clay too..

Carlin was right up there with Pryor, bridges from the old to the new, hilarious and thought-provoking simultaneously.
comment by looserobes on June 25, 2008 1:08 PM ()
Hi loose; That's what was so enjoyable about his humor, he was
unerring in finding the ridiculous in human behavior.
reply by susil on June 27, 2008 2:58 AM ()
I remember that line.....he certainly had a way with words. He always made us stop and think.
comment by gapeach on June 25, 2008 11:40 AM ()
Hi peach; Yep, even in his over the top routines there was
always that squirmy feeling he was right in his observations.
reply by susil on June 27, 2008 3:13 AM ()
He broke a lot of taboos for all of us.

The Whole Routine in it's original form is on my blog. The label? "George Carlin, RIP"
reply by thestephymore on July 1, 2008 3:02 AM ()
Hi jon; I figured out six of those seven unmentionable
words, but stumped on the seventh!
