SO! North Mississippi has a Democratic congressman at last! Mississippi Democrat Travis Childers won a special election to Congress, defeating a Republican opponent who had the bad judgement to have Dick (Tricky Dicky) Cheney campaign for him. What was he thinking?

The love bugs are arriving for their bi-annual swarm over South Mississippi. Started noticing them day before yesterday-Splat! On your windshield and the hood of your car, they splatter and leave sticky residue that's like glue. And they stink, too.

Received in the mail MDOT's annual Hurricane Evacuation Guide pamphlet with maps and emergency numbers etc. I don't even want to think about that.
But! So as not to be a total grump, I will end by saying this morning my cousin brought me a jar of mayhaw jelly and a chunk of rum cake. That oughta sweeten me up! Susil

Hi larry; I sure do, much to my dismay!

Congratulations on Mississippi's new congressman and (we all hope) better government. What is a mayhaw? xx, T.

Hi teal; Mayhaws look like cranberries and grow on shrubby small trees.
They are very tart--You boil 'em, and use the juice to make the best
jelly--it has a unique taste like no other--much prized around here.
As for politics, you know it ain't gonna matter a hill of beans who's
in office--they're all the same--but at least he's a Democrat skunk, Haha!
