I visited the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot at Walt Disney World a couple of years ago and had the time of my life. That year, my son had gone diving at the Living Sea (A huge exhibit with a giant tank filled with all sorts of sea life. We happened to know someone who got us in) and we decided to go visit the World Showcase in the back and eat out dinner. I was in a wheel chair because I had hurt my knee, and he was so cute. He pushed me around all day. They set up booths from many different countries and you can literally eat and drink your way through the world. The booths sell small portions and the prices are very reasonable -- like $2.75 for a little piece of something incredible. Personally I had a ball with my son. That was the last time he and I did something really fun just the two of us. I miss him.
Saturday was wonderful. My travel buddy and I got there around 2:00 p.m. and started with Poland and made our way all the way around past France, America (this year it was Lousiana cooking featured), Mexico, Morocco, China, Reims (champagne that was out of this world) and back around. There were too many countries here to name, but of course there was Germany and Italy -- two of my favorite stops and I even had a bite in New Zealand. It was yummy. I had escargot in France, cooked in garlic butter in a tiny brioche which was absolutely like biting into a little piece of heaven. I tried a cider in England, a Kier in one of the countries and of course had to go to Austria for my treasured reisling. Anyway, these are small servings of food and wine -- just a wonderful delectable taste and I had a ball.
The band playing was Jefferson Starship (aka Starship) and they did all the old favorites which were just wonderful. We stopped and watched the light and firework show Illuminations and it was amazing. Wow, it was truly a little vacation away from the world. Wish you could have been there! Missed you!
